Sounds like fun, how would a person even get into that? At the moment the only re-enactment I am participating in is waking up every day to go to work :P

I dont do re-enacments, but i have been to one in particular (a beach landing assault) where they announced that there would be explosions and gunfire and that if you have little ones in the crowd it might be best to cover their ears. The crowd kinda laughed because tbh the guys doing the re-enacment were all a little bloated and it looked a tad amateurish. However, upon the landing they set off some charges in the sea and my god, the stench created by people $hitting themselves at the noise was incredible (no idea what the charges were but by god they were loud and big), turned out to be one one of the best I had ever seen (and we only stumbled upon it by accident)!

I am planning in a few years time to move to an area that has way more groups than the area I am in now. Nearest re-enactment group to me is 60 miles away...

We watched a re-enactement at Dover Castle a while back and it looked great. British squad versus a german squad and although we laughed because the brits won (naturally) all tactical thinking was that due to the setup the germans should have wiped the brits but then of course that wouldn't have been 'right', lol. You can see the old soldier in me. The sound of the bren and 30cal firing were incredible.
