Hello tankers!

I am thinking to start playing EVE Online again as a secondary game to WoT.

Unfortunately I don't know so many that play it right now. Perhaps some of you guys are playing it already and want to do some stuff together in EVE?

Perhaps you have always wondered what this epic sci-fi sandbox was like but was scared of the threshold to learn it. In this case I'd be willing help you, to a certain extent. Teamspeak and headset is required.

The first 30 day trial is free but after that EVE costs about 13 euro per month to play...

Just re-subbed to this game again after a long hiatus. Give me holler if you're interested.

I tried it and was overwhelmed with the complexity

and never touched it again after 3 days because trial time wore off.

It's not the "Freelancer" online thing I was expecting.

Definately nothing for a casual like me.

Hello Pansenmann friend!

I hear you bro. I had like 3 trial periods myself. Each one lasted like 3 weeks and they where spread out like 1 year apart. Each time I didn't get anything of the game.

Last attempt though I had a couple of RL bros trying to help me and explained pretty much what I needed to know to get started and that helped immensly.

I'd be glad to help you to get into the game or at least to try it "properly"...meaning you can use 30 day trial account (freeeeeeeeeee!).

I think as a "gamer" I feel happy that I kind of at least learned the basics of this game. Makes me a more "complete" gamer I think hehe. It is a very interesting game. If not else so for the sandbox world (no other game has such a complex virtual world to date), the metagaming (yes its huge...read/write/chat about the game without playing it!) and the artwork inside the game.

About time consumption I'd say I need about 4 days of 5 hours each (doesn't have to be adjacent days) to learn you the basics. Where you take it from there is up to you. There is a common misconception about EVE that you HAVE to play a lot. That is one I am actively advocating against. I'd say its not so far from WoT time consumption and can be pretty free to choose. I mean sure if you wanna play WoT in the biggest clans with CW you have to spend time. The same with EVE. Only wanna grind some times when/how much you want...that is totally doable and that is actually how I am playing the game.

Just curious, what do you do in EvE? PvP? WH? Nullsec? Trading? Mining? Missions?

Against the advices from many (who actually, most of, are not playing any more doh) I started very broad and I still like to engage in many different activities (to learn them firstly and secondly to see how lucrative they are :-P ). So...what I'm saying I pretty much tried everything...except 0.0 though.

At the moment these activities take precedence though: trading (station and moving stuff), planetary interaction, mining and missions....roughly in that order.

From the way you speak I assume you are an old EVE player. What did you do mostly?

I used to play EVE about 2-3 years ago for a few years. I did everything PVP wise from solo to small gang/piracy, alliance blobs and high sec stuff to (RVB and wardeccing). I quit a little while after the micro-transaction scandal which caused the Jita riots, which were funny. Sometimes I kind of want to go back and play it every now and then, because you can pick who you play with and rely on them not being complete morons.

I highly doubt anyone I know still plays though and I would be too rusty to go and join a decent corp from the get go. I mean I don't even know what the good corps are these days. When I played Pandemic Legion was the place to go if you wanted to join a larger and very good group of players and something like Hydra Reloaded, if you were really good and into solo/small scale stuff. Of course there were others, but those 2 names crop to mind.

Have you checked Star Citizen before? I think you might like it too: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/ , it is still in alpha, but looks very promising.

Also I think I might have 30d Eve online trial and Rifter ship skin from last year E3 Digital Ticket still unredeemed. Not sure if is still active, but you can them ( just PM).

Well I didnt consider myself as an "older" EVE player, since I only play it for like 2 years.

I mostly carebear around (mining, while doing sth else on the other screen) while learning skills. I did some WH stuff (mining/complexes), some missioning and trading. But sadly i never managed to get some serious pvp, let alone 0.0.

Granted the game is not for everyone, but if you can overlook the UI I don't think there is a deeper gaming experience out there. That being said I don't think many new players can get into the game at this stage. Its just too long in the tooth and even the bad EVE players know a lot of tricks to avoid losing their stuff. At least that was the case when I started playing. I personally had a baptism in fire when I attempted to take a crappy tier 1 cruiser mining in 0.0. I also got my [edited]handed to me when I tried to go back for revenge in possibly the worst fit Harbinger EVE had ever seen lol.

Anyway, I certainly wouldn't play the game if all you intended to do was carebear. The real meat of EVE is in the politics, pvp and general asshattery.

Well...tactical....the game is a sandbox....about the amount of "time played"...well...that MOSTLY is important for PvP...

About the asshattery....well...for some that might be the main goal of the game...for others...like me....my goal of the game is to AVOID asshattery :-)

But yeah...politics and metagaming is a very interesting side of the game though...
