So I heard this interesting news that T28 will be replaced by something called T95 early prototype. Anyone has any information about this?

Long ago? Last month, that's not that long ago. Anyway, those forum threads are interesting but ultimately we don't really know much about it. It could truly be a 'stock T95 with only one set of tracks', as it is now (aside from the screwed-up frontal armour) or it could be a prototype (Chieftain's thread does mention 'models' with 8 inch armour, corresponding to the 203mm of T28 ingame) or even a simple proposal they found in an archive. And even if it's the first, we don't know any stats or whatever.

Removing that weird nose would be huge buff for T28

The under plate thing WG made on purpose as a balancer.. they keep spouting stuff about "historical accuracy" and they purposly made a tank unhistorical in every aspect? WG for you, next they give Tiger 2 a Type 61 cupola just because they feel like it.

They should just remove T28 and the proto, replace them with something that wasent written down on the back of a paper napkin.

The Chieftain thread explains that they did indeed invent the entire T28 as a sort of 'T95 predecessor', and the underplate is not necessarily a balancer (although it's armour value /is/) and it's supposed to be a bit of a conjecture tank to depict what an early development could have looked like. The box houses a frontal drivetrain to fit with the different suspension for the 'older tech' effect.

Quoting:

Compared to the real tank, it has VVSS suspension instead of HVSS, frontal drive-train, and an extended lower front hull.

Well, put frankly, we made it up. I speculate that the thinking was that the US rather gave up on the whole concept of heavy TDs and assault guns and didn't develop much which could survive at Tier VIII while remaining in the tech tree lineage. So, we had to fill in the gap a bit with a little creative license/speculation.

Even if the new LFP had the same armour value? Or worse?

Not models. They actually built the hulls and tested them.

Well, that's even better. Can you tell anything more about them? Like, were they operational vehicles or just empty husks for armour tests?

Also, thanks for replying.

Just the hull castings. We've got the firing records and results.

Interesting, but if the switch goes live I wonder if the speed of the new tier 8 will be brought down to 13 with armour buffed. As it is now E3 and 263 are both on my wishlist, but looking at grind for those... Replace T28 sooner then later please, let me at least grind the US TD ;D

I like T28 :(

It is a fun tank, can bounce tier IX heavies and has a good gun. It is slow, but so what...

Some news about this on Rita's blog. Let us pray that the part about terrible mobility does not mean worse than T95 now (no matter how good other stats the tank would be unplayable)

It'll have a much better power/weight ratio (so shouldn't be -quite- as affected by the hills), and will have a slightly higher top speed. (Calculated from the other gear ratio which was tested)

Are you sure you're thinking of the right line?
