1. Okay, so further testing seems that the error only occurs prior to the countdown starting..... so, my mistake then.  Don't know how that happened but crap.

So, you likely don't need to worrry about it unless you can improve the message or something.

2. It looks like I've found an actual error now.

One thing I like to do is for my chat window text to stay longer on the screen and like 6 lines.

Now, it seemed you have the setting for this gui/player_messages_panel.xml right?

However, when I change this setting for "Lifetime" and also Maxlinescount, the setting seems to be for the window on the right of the screen that reports tank destructions, etc.

Okay, so I tried all the other xml settings, and none of them change the lifetime or the linecount of the chat window?

Is there a bug here?

Thanks for your work in this.

Trully speaking I was never able to find the influence of those options on the message panels

Mechanism works for sure but maybe flash part of the game is not using them (coming from python)

It is also possible that chat scrolling mod (if you use it) is also interfering

Well, the message window on the right of the screen certainly works when I change the stuff.

Ya, I've tried changing stuff also without the chat scroll mod.  And, no change.

BTW, I was wondering.

In standard coding methodolgy, to make a simple "scroll bar" for a Window is a very simple addition or change of code.  Like in HTML, I can do it easy, and I believe it's the same for other coding.

That is I believe all the chat scroll mod is, is the games BattleMessenger.swf that's simply had the code for it's window changed to be able to scroll.

Is it possible for you to figure this out since you're more familiar with coding?  Cause the mod should be updated with the new window that's there anyway.

You can likely use this to do it easy?  https://www.free-decompiler.com/flash/

the problem is that this decomplier is not yet working fine with action script

here for example is mine open issue for it: https://www.free-dec...e-in-expression

xvm uses much more complicated method of patching flash

Ah, what about SWF Decompiler?  I have a working version of it if you don't, if you want it I can get it to you.

I know sometimes certain decompilers will allow you to change some things while another one won't.

BTW, did you try the latest version that just came out of the above decompiler?

I will check latest ffdec in some time, maybe they solved it without updating the issue

You do know that with a good filter list like mine (see previous page), that it doesn't matter if the dead speak?

The Dead after all can sometimes give help and info on the battle.

So, it's really pointless frankly to have that feature.  You really don't want to block people totally.  We only need to block useless sentences, which the mod does.

Best to keep the mod simple and clean, less work for him.

1.) you can't add every swear word there is.

2.) i can insult without "bad words", which makes filters irrelevant and is even more funny.

3.) languages other than english have also bad words.

4.) bad words in english might not be a bad word in other languages, like [edited]or [edited]in german. (i typed d i c k which means big (..fat) and A s s which means Ace or hole-in-one in german - both get filtered)

5.) people tend to know how to circumvent filter by typing creative things like azzhole

dead filter is easy and effective, using it for ages since it was added in the antispam mod. i like it, but i undestand that not everyone does that. thhats what true/false is good for. same goes for rating filter of course, basically the same: muting a group of players by default, basta.

Ya....  Me, I tried to find every English one I could, including variations of the bad words.

If anyone has bad words in other languages I would be happy to add those to the list.  :)

can provide a list if you really need one, but as stated above more words in the filter won't solve the problem imho.

Ya, please provide bad words in other languages, the more the marrier.....  The mod is worldwide, so should cater to all.

Actually, it does solve the problem (generally), because I can put variations of bad words typed, and I have many in the list already.

Of course, nothings perfect, but we CAN get close.  :)

I'm going to add your "azzhole"....  LOL

unfortunately battle is based on AS2 and there are no such high level things as windows, you basically need to draw most stuff yourself

isn't chat scroll mod supported?

Ah....

Not really sure.  There is one particular mod download site that it's always updated at, but the mod itself is still using the old window design you know, before they put in the up and down arrows.

It still works, but I don't know that it's officially supported anymore given that the mod hasn't been updated with the new window features.  Comparing the two files, there's a lot of new code in the new battle file compared to the mods one.

Do you have an idea where the mod is actually from?
