Recent comments by SS are definitely not influenced by his new job.

Saying that only freeloaders should get tomatoes while paying customers should get unicum teams?

Apologies, but that is not what I meant. Certainly not in the way that you have suggested.

I mean that I make an effort to learn this game. I am here a lot, I visit the WoT Wiki to look at my own tanks and those I am aiming to buy, and try to learn the complex mechanics of the game and I follow other sources of information now and again to pick up tips and tricks.

I am maybe a little too into WoT, as it is almost the only PC game that I am playing despite having older games on the PC that I want to play and finish and newer ones that I want to buy and play. That's my problem to deal with, but on the whole I do, most definitely, enjoy World of Tanks and try to get better at it.

I can achieve Unicum status in some games and in other matches, or in some tanks, I SUCK, but what happens a little too often is that everything seems to be going well for me and my team may as well be Neanderthals for all that they are able to bring to a match. Although not outstanding I don't think that I am all that bad a player- I will admit my faults and I am trying to get over some of those that I have identified, but while I can get good Wn8 in a game, my WR is hit by these people.

The argument goes, of course, that they are just as often on the enemy team, and this is true. However, in those games I may not do well and my Wn8 takes a hit even though we win, because my super-Unicum team stomps the enemy into the ground before I am quite certain of where I want to go. This may not be due to my own indecisiveness, but often due to the fact that the team does something different and I see no point in going my usual direction because half the team has already gone that way, for example.

At least if there was some measure of skill balance- a mixture of skill levels on each team, rather than leagues- then surely we shouldn't see complete stompings every other match. We should see a little more of knock for knock even if it goes something like this.....

Your tomato dies, enemy tomato dies, your orange dies, their orange dies- right up until it is Unicum vs Unicum

At least it isn't like this....

Your tomato dies, your next tomato dies, your next tomato dies, your orange player dies, your Unicum is now alone and dies, your orange dies, and then all your half-decent players are simply overwhelmed before they get chance to really get stuck in.

It happens the other way around as well and many is the time that I have been in a very capable damage dealer which is too slow to turn around a game- heavy or TD, or too underperforming- LT or bottom tier med and you just have to accept that you are [EDITED]

As noted, I believe that skill balance plays some part in team battles (and darn it, I will have to start playing them) so why can't it work to some degree in normal games? There will still be sufficient randomness in the teams as you might get 15 players who actually believe that you shouldn't go to the gap/valley on Cliff, Karelia, Lakeside and others and- shock horror- they ALL go the other way. You might get an entire team of players in stock tanks vs a team with fully-upgraded vehicles with 3 crew skills. Whatever the reason, there is still enough randomness to make each game different.

I haven't seen all the truly valid arguments against some skill balance, but some of them seem to revolve around Unicums claiming that their stats will be hit if they can't stomp tomatoes all of the time. Me? I would like to see my stats go up, but I would far rather not wait up to a minute to join a game, only for it to last about four minutes and have no interest or tension.

Nope. First that would mean that WG EU has some authority. Lol.

Wall of text

No offense taken.

Wall of text:

1) How often you meat unica teams, since they are 0,1% of playerbase?

1) Team battles are played by teams made of pre selected players, not by random people so it is not the same

3) There are plenty arguments against(what are drawbacks) skill based mm, I would not discuss it here to not derail topic, so please read it in some of X threads about that

4) No you would not like to wait 5 mins to get into game, only ones who say that are the ones who never waited 5 minutes to get into game.

Yes that costs (and I condone anyone who did that, because simply its cheap move and there are legit ways to fight someone you disagree with).

But he could stay at blogger, all those are free there.

If modern man was pushing neanderthals like other games are pushing WG, we would all still be living in caves.

Which of those players should WG listen?

The arty lovers or the arty haters?

The skill-based MM lovers or the skill-based MM haters?

The XVM lovers of the XVM haters?

The RNG lovers or the RNG haters?

The gold ammo lovers or the gold ammo haters?

The player base is so divided that whatever part of the players WG would want to listen would just make the changes as unappealing to the other part.

A very good job at creating discent among the playerbase by their sockpuppets don't you think? Haha, but I just wear a tinfoil hat. But you very correct, we are extremely divided.

Let's all start a new mission to find the sockpuppets, that'll unite us won't it?

@OP I think WG makes this game for the player base, but I don't think most of the people on the forum or the more skilled players are the target player base. They may listen to the the ESL pro players, but apart from that the focus is on keeping a large player base and attracting new players, not the unicums.

Funny?

I fail to see why devs that actually listen to the community and actively post on forums are funny.....

Regarding the Matchmaking Article

Hello everyone,
Regarding the matchmaking post published earlier this week - the developers took a close look at your feedback and while we were all pleased that it was quite positive, there are still things that need to be explained in more details - some community members raised very valid questions and we would like to answer them without forcing you to search the entire forums for developer posts or dozens of portal articles for updates.
For this very reason, we pulled down the original matchmaking post - we will rework it to include all your feedback and to answer the hottest questions, along with some fancy graphics to show you how it works.
So stay tuned, because it's only gonna get better and better ""

Guess you "missed" that one :D
