As far as I am aware it has not had a nerf. Maybe just your holiday spirit fogging up your imagination...
Still a super little sniper, not the easiest to play as you need experience to get the best out of it.

I think the threshold for Ace Tanker has gone up as this was 1145 raw and got 1st.   Still Fadin's is a nice touch:great::medal:

after playing several games with it, starting with a fresh 100% crew ... i'm not exactly sure, what to think of it. currently halfway through to the first skill (will be SS & camo)

the biggest drawback i noticed so far is the abysmal view range. 456m with binocs lots of meh at that tier, after being used to drive vehicles that are setup for 500m+ view range (i like to drive battlefield RADAR :P )

edit: http://wotreplays.co...ot-m56_scorpion ... okay, i guess this tank has potential ^^ - admittedly sand river offense is one my favorite maps to play, still hardly close to fully skilled and i have a new account wide XP high score

Well I have just started my 4th skill after 697 battles. Having more fun every time I play it and finding more spots on maps where it will work.It can even do well in city maps if you can find weaker tanks to pick off by using its speed.

Commander: Sixth Sense, Recon, Camo, Situational Awareness (2%)

Gunner: camo, Armourer ,Snap Shot, Repairs (2%)

Driver: Offroad Driving, Camo, Clutch Braking, Repairs (5%)

Loader: Intuition, Camo, Repairs, Firefighting (5%)

Watched some of those replays and I think I need to be a bit more aggressive, or find more positions that are good.. The only thing this TD can't do is ram.

My W/r in the scorpion has been sinking from a high of 64% down to 58% :(   Not sure I've changed gameplay so I'll just see where it settles and keep trying to improve.   And yes I probably need to watch some replays!

Anyway the crew completed 3rd skill so I need to pick 4th:

I'm thinking Recon, Armorer, Clutch and retraining for safe stowage, for want of any better ideas.  Your suggestions?

I would go for Armorer as it helps aim on a damaged gun and when doesn't the gun get damaged?

Clutch Braking for driver and Repairs for anyone else.

Recon or Situational Awareness for Commander

Sometimes it can be hard work, but worth the effort.

I can't see the reason to take repairs on the commander over recon, it's pretty rare you survive after waiting for a repair!

The mantra is: Do not get hit.

Hence my gun will not be damaged, hence I do not need the Armorer skill or repair skills.

In case I do get hit, I use the repair kit, or have to live with a damaged gun.

This will enable me to train Designated Target, which will enable me to shoot from double bush positions AND to take my time for aiming at longer ranges.

To train Recon on the commander is a waste of 1% view range, compared to Situational Awareness skill.

The strength of the Scorpion is its speed and gun depression.

My gameplay and my crew training tries to make use and increase these strengths (Off-Road, Clutch Braking).

My gunner is preping for Dead Eye skill.

My commanders primary vehicle is M8A1, hence the Recon skill.

Hence my crew looks like this:

Hmm.   I will hold with the BiA , I think somehow, which leaves me one less skill to work with.

I will go with Sit Aware as the Commander is the radioman in the T40 too so no issue there.

I like the idea of Designated Target which I had dismssed as the tank doesn't have an exceptional viewrange.   However I am using binocs and do get a fair amount of spotting done all the same (though heavies behind me shooting I guess!) but it will mean restarting training snapshot from 0%..................

The more I play this, the more I enjoy it. 80% on 4th skill now with just over 900 battles. It can even pop round corners in cities, and take out a damaged tank With binos, Situational Awareness and Recon, it can spot for itself. I even scout with it sometimes with it

I compared your stats further up when you were at 700 matches with your current stats.

Did you do anything different?

:)

I didn't consciously do anything different, but as the crew skill gets better it's a lot easier to play a bit more aggressively and find out what the Scorpion can do. Even in city maps it works well later on using the speed to pop around corners and damage or kill an enemy. The wide arc of the gun helps tracking fast moving tanks  compared to E25. At longer range, being patient with aiming also pays off as the gun can be very accurate.

The more I play it, the more fun I have. Even my Bert doesn't compare tbh.

While I don't have so many matches on this tank, I can surely say I like it. Why? Let's take it step by step.

Gun - while traverse is a bit slower than normal, it should not be a true issue for sniping. Cause when it comes to defense... this thing it's not designed for this. Otherwise the pen is insane for it's tier and it performs well even against T9. Accuracy is good, not usual for US TD. Rate of fire could be a bit better and I will obtain a small buff with BIA - this is in my view what can / should be buffed on this tank.

Mobility - has good speed for re-positioning or achieving a good spot. You don't really need to cry on losing speed on turns. You're not spotter. And yes, while it would be a nice to have for when you're spotted - learn to to get spotted and learn to make the difference between a must for a tank to work and a nice to have.

Armor - glass cannon. You're designed to dish out damage. Compare it to a ninja. You have gun and mobility. Armor means weight, weight means slow, thus denying what you get from mobility. As one that has played the UK TD line till Tortoise I can truly say mobility is better than armor, as there will always be a shell to make a hole in your jacket.

All in all, this tank is about the great gun it has and the mobility that allows it to position and re-position. Due to it's size the camo is excellent and you live long enough to have a good game.
