overpenetration.

bullet goes in has penetration left goes out and has enough penetraton left to go in again.

3 people hit you at the same time, happened to me a few times

when you popped over the hill an enemy tank spotted you and 3 of the tanks that will have been "defending" the ridge around J6 & 7 fired at the same time

*edit*
-rep? really??

you can clearly see three holes side by side, now i accept it could be 1 shot that went through but is it so impossible that when he peeked over that hill (showing only his turret) that out of the no doubt half the enemy team on the other side 3 of them hit his turret?

Basically, the shell has gone in-out-in-out of your tank. Imagine if you were to get shot in one of your butt cheeks, the bullet might go out one cheek, and then into the other.

These holes are randomized. They don't reflect the actual penetration.

Have had this happen to my tank a few times as well. Gave it a nice "battle scarred" look ;)

Been there, seen it, done it.  I wouldn't worry about it though, there often doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason applied to -rep.  Maybe it was just your turn and it may soon turn out to be mine...  ;-)

You were driving slightly uphill and the shot came straight across. The programm calculated the point of hit (sounds better than hitpoint) an put the graphics on your tank. This time it was a very strange hitpoint, but if you press the right mouse button and zoom around your tank you can definitely say where the shot came from.

 +1 (just incase)
indeed, the minus doesnt bother me so much its the lack of reason or explanation for it annoys me (just spineless i guess)

*awaits the next torrent of needless and unexplained minuses :Smile-hiding: *

Don't look at the penetration marks too closely, they don't accurately represent anything.  There is no real shell, it's just software trying to impersonate one.

Also HE leaves a penetration mark even if it doesn't penetrate.

indeed, i've had it a few times as well, and if you just turn the camera in such a way that all the 'holes' are in one line, it will form the basic penetration mark (this also works when you got shot in a piece of sloped armour, when you turn the camera to where the shot came from, you see it as if it penetrated a flat surface)

that's it. The only way a shell could make two holes is by driving a open surface/hatch tank like some early low tier TDs. If you get penetrated from the front you usually see a second hole inside the tank.

Interesting guys .............

It is software ?

I am no tech guy but what does that mean so the software simulates the holes in the tank ?

It does look very gimpy IMO they are not holes they are just pixels making it look like that.
