So you know the Germans have a healthy Chocolate consumable, and Yanks have some honest cola.

But the russians have some unindetified "additional combat rations" in some brown bags, you cant really tell what is in there, but now we know.

so ur suggesting ghost shells are happening with nations because of these consumables, lets investigate a bit

germans: they are just shooting chocolate at their enemies (no wonder they get critical hits, the chocolate goes straight into the face of the driver)

americans: they shoot cola cans when they run out of ammo (pretty quick) so they load coca cola, no wonder people complain about insane ricoshets

russians: well it is made of glass, so it shatters on contact (but why not after being fired), could also lead to critical hits cus the shattered glass does 5hp damage (to tracks) this explains those hits that only damage tracks

problem solved B)

Now reality check... Loza in his memoirs describes, how the manufacturer's representative with their Brigade asked whether they received presents packed into their Shermans in factory. Upon learning that no such packages were found and must've bween nicked somewhere along the way, he got angry and promised they'll fix it.
With the next shipment of Shermans, upon cleaning the barrels (they were filled with grease as conservant), something fell on the ground and shattered... They found that in the barrel, there was a specifically designed container containing a bottle of whiskey. Barrels on the remaining Shermans were cleaned very carefully after that :)

One of my mates has a 1943 Soviet army field ration. His mate who is russian translated it, and one one of the packages wich contained meat, the following was written

"Ingredients=you dont wanna know."

Soviets also had humour
In soviet military field manuals it said=

"Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally."
Soviet infantry manual, issued in the 1930's

One of the serious problems in planning the fight against American doctrine, is that the Americans do not read their manuals, nor do they feel any obligation to follow their doctrine...
- From a Soviet Junior Lt's Notebook

"The best tank terrain is that without anti-tank weapons."
-Russian military doctrine.
