The funnies would be a great thing to add in a similar way to the winter showdown and karl. Have a game mode where there are tasks which only certain "funnies" can do.

Maybe some sort of Wacky Racing mode where your teammates have to lay down a bridge while others clear obstacles and mines. (It would require unforeseen co-operation to work mind you)

Interesting.
- I'd like a Sherman Crab, to wipe the crew out of arty and other vehicles with an open crew compartment.
- I'd like a Sherman DD, to swim on the Fjords map from one base to the other.
- Not mentioned in the topic, but I'd like a Churchill Crocodile, for any city map (that's gotta be OP )
- And ofcourse I'd like a UK KV-2: the Churchill AVRE

british developed all the funnies, they started off with valentine DD tanks
the sherman DD was prefered for its gun capable of firing HE... (the fireflies werent intended to be used in the first wave)
the usa only used sherman DD, they didnt want to use any of the other funnies +lost thousands of men as a result
"you can always tell an american, but you cant tell them lot" lol

wot havent corrected phyiscs of water shots/damage
the higher velocity, the more drastic the shell decellerates in water ~tank shells will auto fail to pen +HE arty shells should make a pretty flume of water +0 dmg...

Yup as Tigerstreak rightly says, this sort of specialised armour was developed by the UK, and they invented some unique and pioneering designs. Look at any photo of the Churchill tanks on the beach at Dieppe and you will see they had an exhaust modified to allow deeper wading, and there were the first carpet laying tanks used too; the story started there..

Mineclearing tanks were pioneered using Matildas then Valentines in the North African campaign. Both the USA and the UK used DD tanks on Overlord, but the USA both launched its DD tanks too far out and many were lost, and also declined to use the specialised beach assault armour that the 79th Armoured Division used. Omaha beach could have been a very different story otherwise.
An interesting historical item WG thanks!

The Sherman DD would be cute.
If you manage to swim on islands on certain maps you can be a great annoyance as you "plink" those high tier heavies :3
Although it wouldn't be quite fair as you could hide on the islands on Assault game mode if you're defending. (But this isn't THAT much of a problem, since the enemy can cap anyways. I'm talking about those KILL ALL guys there.)
...if you actually manage to get to those spots alive.

Thank you General Hobart for designing many of these "funnies"
Have often wondered if those tanks had been used on all the beaches if lives would have been saved, would Bl**dy Omaha have got that name.
Sadly we will never know
btw can I have a petard mortar Churchill please
