I have a clan knocking about that I'm not using.  Do you think there would be any use/interest in a Forumites Clan for those that are forum regulars that don't belong to a clan?  It might be a nice jumping board for them before transitioning to an established clan, or they may just want to belong to a clan for some sense of belonging.  I don't necessarily want to remain the owner of the clan, and if there was a suitable commander from say the Dingers that wanted to perform the very basic/limited administration that would be required to maintain the clan, I would be happy to transfer the clan over to them.

If you have any interest in this idea at all, please register interest in this thread, or pm me.

Ta!

Would be a fun clan, if you can keep the "arta hater threads" out

I think WJDE and T-D-U are already clans infested populated with forumites? They breed there like the plague I've heard, only use gold ammo and arty all the time (when they're not on the forums harassing us all) :P. Nevertheless, quite a good idea.

Circle, you have just described the Dingers. Were we not good enough for you? :(

If you read his post it is obvious he knows about the dingers but sees this klen fulfilling a different role.

Maybe he knows that Dingers are always 100% full. That's why there is a need for additional clan of similar kind.

It was KKK, but then somebody thought I was trying to glorify the klu klux klan by naming a pew pew tank clan after them :\  It is currently RCS, for Renamed by Customer Support.  Without the original concept I just don't care for it any more, so if anybody wants it to put to good use, just give a shout.  I thought the Forumite idea was good, but I guess that is what the Dingers are.  Anyway, it's a box on the side of the road with "kittah 4 free" on the the side, except there are no kittens, or a box, but there is a clan that you can get renamed to whatever you want.  I wouldn't be surprised if the Awesome Service Staff Here At The Site would deny the recipient a description change for free as well, despite the clan name and description no longer matching.  That has to be kept in mind.

Maybe a clan with no commitments which is an oxymoron I know. But that is a clan that I will be willing to join.

Yeah, basically this.  Some may use it to find their feet, a bit like the kiddy pool, and move on to other clans.  Others will just be happy to be in the clan to have others to draw upon for platoons.  No requirements or obligations.

Dingers: play for fun. Shoot goald for lolz.

Forumite klen:  a place for forumites to gather with no commitment.

Sounds like different klen mottos even though the dingers have many forumites.

For the record, I think most forumites are pretty happy in the clans they are in and would rather stick with them than join a clan to simply say "Hey look, I'm a Forumite". Plus, you underestimate the forum populace if you think one clan is enough for the lot of us! :teethhappy:

I reread it and stand by my original comment.

Forum regulars. Check (although not all Dingers are, which is good).

Springboard to other clans at a later date. Check (see all the ex-Dinger banners here for example).

Sense of belonging. Check (Dingers are as Dingers does or something).

No klen commitments. Check (Dingers fear commitment).

Commander with basic and limited admin people skills. Check (Hi Boss!).

Not that any of this should stand in the way of anyone creating a new clan of course and I certainly wouldn't be posting this in an actual Recruitment thread for such a clan.

The old saying of "this world isn't big enough for the both of us" springs to mind.

Lets be honest, most of use forumites are egotistical meglomaniacs just looking for attention. Can you imagine a clan full of those?

Our madmen TS is full of these types and we struggle to create enoughs channels to please them all.

A channel each should do the job, but woe betide the weakling who steps foot into someone else's channel!
