It does potentially have an effect when playing WoT in Linux, not the GTX 1080, but the CPU, as with me one thread runs at 100% while 7 other threads are bobbing around the 50% mark, as those threats are actively shuffling DirectX commandos, translating them to OpenGL, and pumping them in to the GPU, as with Wine + CSMT, your CPU becomes the limiting factor. (in most cases unless you got a really bad GPU)

Just built a new PC about a week ago, so I guess this'll be relevant.

Epic photography skills:

Specs for those interested:

Overclocking sh!t for the nerds:

Built this PC to be silent without having high temps... boy does it deliver, can barely hear it even under full load. Pretty impressed with the cooler, handling my OCs like a champ when set to the minimum fan speed, and for £40.

@Exclamationmark

My GPU just exploded while it attempted to render the gigantic photograph on the page :O

Interesting that it runs fine at 4.8Ghz 1.375 vcore, which is the same vcore stock for max turbo core on my FX, which I got running at 4.45Ghz with stock vcore, I can not make it run faster because the motherboard can not handle it, it's voltage regulators then start to melt away.

I guess 1.375 vcore on a 14nm CPU is different then on a 32nm one, nice figures anyway :)

That is the most amazing PC I have ever seen :D

Haha so cool, it even looks like it has a build in satellite dish access card, so it can see all channels :D

Not every CPU is born the same, much less between AMD and Intel, you can't really compare things like voltage requirements between different completely different designs / architectures. :P

But yeah, I was told I won the silicon lottery for sure with my CPU. Not sure how lucky I was with the GPU... My previous GTX 970 was a freaking monster, 1570MHz on the core. Got incredibly lucky with that one.

By the way a tip for overclockers, who want to get more out of their cooling solution.

Most cool-blocks are not perfectly flat, the stock 4 heat pipe 125 Watt TDP Phenom cooler, that I'm using on my FX, which has a nice copper contact plate was warped, in one direction being a bit concave and the other direction a bit convex, normally lots of thermal paste will overcome the bad flatness of cool-blocks, but you can grind the plate to perfect flatness on a mirror using grinding powder.

I used my self two different grains of (engine valve) metal grinding powder, from griffon (a Dutch company, I'm Dutch, I'm sure there is other stuff out there)

Translated from Dutch: https://translate.go...57-duro-dubbel/

Or original: http://www.griffon.n...57-duro-dubbel/

Take a mirror that you can damage, as the mirror will get grinded too, mirrors are perfectly flat, or else they would not be working as a mirror, and put the abrasive paste on the mirror, and then grind away the contact plate of the cool-block until it has a flat surface that is the same size as your CPU.

When done you will have a much better cool-block ;)

Heh, I was a good few months overdue with the image but it was a semi-joke post related to my old laptop, which (after I got my new one) turned out to be a horrible experience I wasn't quite aware of at the time. Nonetheless, my crusty held-up-with-tape potato rig which I repaired several times in a manner befitting a Soviet tank mechanic (just nail the f*cker shut and hold bits down with your hands and feet) earned me all of my Ace Tankers and MoE's for more than a couple of years at a stunning 20fps!
