Hello all,i was just thinking to myself,if a france had armor during ww2 and they actually going to release a full tech tree full of french tanks, than what about japan?
during pacific war the empire of japan preferred tactical air warfare because of the strategic situation,so most of the people out there dont even know that japanese build tanks.
i think japan had planty armor, and developers can actually take a shot and create a full tech tree, what do you say?

Type 2 105mm Ka-To Tank Destroyer

Ka-To's development was was ordered in 1943, but actual process of development is unknown. Ka-To's hull was similar to the Type 4 Chi-To or Type 5 Chi-Ri Heavy, its main armament was to be newly developed.

Type 2 Ho-Ri Tank Destroyer

Ho-Ri was planned to mount a powerful 105mm cannon on the hull of Type 5 Chi-Ri Medium. Probably, development of Ho-Ri was influenced by the information of German "Jagdtiger" tank destroyer.

Interesting post +1 first of all for all your hard work.

When I hear the word Japanese WW2 tanks two things come to mind, complicated suspension and thin armor. Apart from that, I don't know much about Japanese tanks so it would be very interesting to see them in the game. Certainly heavies and tank destroyers will be amazing to try out.

I'm rather worried about the armour values, because almost every tank on that list has the same armour values a the T-28 :o
The names are also not-so-innovative

dont worry, they'll make something out of it, and then they nerf it into the ground because it might actually be a danger for the russian tanks

i think they will buff the armour a bit to acceptable levels for their respective tiers, but they might have some specialisation, like the germans have accuracy

i second what Cro says.

the Japanese did make use of armour, as we all know, the durability and thickness of their armor makes them more opted for covert ops like engagements.

iow, Hit and run, ambush attacks, backstabs, precision surgery, guerilla warfare, you name it, they will proprarbly be perhaps the only nation with tanks invisible even on the move (to some degree and from a set minimum distance.)

since a jap tanker will have to rely on others for protection, aside from camouflage they need an ability in combat that will balance out their somewhat fragile status.

I can imagine that in later tiers they might have an higher chance for critical hits, and in maps containing large bodies of water they can be used as tank version of the marines, since they did extensive development, production and use of amphibious tanks, these tanks should be able to travel in any river, creek or lake, removing an obstacle and opening up new tactics and ways to fight.

in any case the japanese were known to think outside the frame, from both a western and standard perspective.

until the japanese has come or any news of what abilities and special attributes they will actually have, the topic will remain open for debate.
