Hello fellow wtankers. It has been some time since the last gold ammo/pay2win thread so I thought I would start one.:hiding:

No need to panic it is not the pay2win thread you are looking for. Its quite simple really I intend to play a tank with and without gold ammo and see if anything can be gathered from the results regarding the pay2win myth.( Im calling it a myth.. it might not be one.. it migh be fact or indeed a trifle pudding.. whatever..)

The tank I have chosen is one that in theory should benefit greatly from gold ammo usage. That tank is the tier 8 Russian medium the Object 416. here is a little about the gun stats.

In case your not familiar with it this gun is a very potent gun at tier 8 allmost the same as the t54's D-10T2C it has strong alpha, strong ROF and very good penetration with somewhat mediocre accuracy and slow shell velocity.

The biggest factor in chosing this tank is that the premium ammo gives 330mm of HEAT penetration thats quite some difference and equal in penetration to the object 140 at tier X. Another factor in the choice is that I know the tank well and play well in it. I rarely make mistakes and above all I am fairly consistent. these factors are important if this exercise is to be valid for myth busting.

So.. what will I do? Well I shall play 50 games in total. 25 games with no gold ammo and 25 games with full gold ammo. I will carry my normal 3 HE shells in both loadouts and no other aspect of the tanks setup will change. I shall play those games solo at peak time between 7PM and 11PM UK time.

My goal as allways will be too win as many battles as possible and at the same time cause as much damage and kills as possible. this might take me 3 days or so and I wont rush it. It may not be a large enough sample to prove anything but hopefully it may shed some light on if and by how much gold ammo effects performance.( and please note I use the term pay2win because its common not because I believe the term is accurate)

I have a question.. what is the best way for me to record the scores and results and secondly I apologise in advance for the gold spam.:teethhappy:

I will upload the results here when I figure out what form they should take.

A worthy endevour if I say so myself. It may not dispell the myth of "pay2win" but I'll be interested in the results.

One nitpick tho - your sample size is too small. You should, ideally be using full gold/no gold for 200-250 games each in order to rule out any fliers and to normalize the results against weekend, mid week etc.

Yes indeed. Dont worry about mid week vs weekend. its the summer holidays and ill start as soon as the event finishes. The sample size is small yes. I can up the number to 50 of each. I think 100 is a nice number.:)

Been done by a couple of guys.. looking forward to your results, it keeps the grey matter from going soggy and give the tin foil hats something to rage about ;-)

Tried something similar over the past couple of years. But with the constant changed and reworkings to many guns and indeed the minor tweaks to the physics mechanic in game, it makes it very hard to do a long term study on the effects

I would wait until the kids are back at school. Assuming Lister is older than 16.

Just got back from a trip to a popular seaside resort and I can only describe the experience as Burka....

To be honest given the neg reps.. and given my knowledge of the game over the years Id rather spend my time doing something else.

so to put it blunty. f%ck it!

Guys, you're rude, you have offended the princess.

Now, how can we know if Wot is or not is a p2w game? I mean, that was the first experiment of such thing, right? That was a super original idea that no one has never thought before.

that test is bs, you should play like a tomato(half aimed shots, using autoaim, yoloing, etc) and prove you do more with heat than ap.

The real question is - will you pay for the premammo or will you buy it for silver?

If the latter, than the pay2win is already not pay2win. Unless you buy the silver with your wallet as well ;)
