Sorry, I don't understand. Are you saying the VK is hopeless against a 12t or? Because going 1 on 1 s not working, sniping with a derp is out of question, peek a boo is not viable.. So what's your take when facing a 12t?

No, not hopeless.   Just make him miss or bounce twice or ram him at decent speed and you win.

As for sniping with a 105, it is actually quite good sniping.

2801 is fairly decent at ramming too.

I found it very weak against other scout tanks but it does ok against other types and great vs SPGs

75mm gives you the best chance to win in a one vs one battle against a fast tank 105 is the killer gun when it comes to one shotting SPGs and other open top vehicles.

Never found the 2801 especially flammable though an opponent that knows where to shoot has a rapid fire gun and the deadeye perk can maximise module damage and then you get to light a few more fires.

Its only 3% extra chance but if your firing a load of AP shells very fast that works out pretty good.

Of course when I say "peek-a-boo" I don't mean "exit several times from the same location and wait for him to detrack you next time you exit". I mean shoot, take cover, exit preferrably from another location and shoot again. I found it very viable not only with 12t but also with other scouts. Only problem I have with 59-16 which is quite agile.

Only just got it, and it is a blast!

It is actually almost even more fun than the ELC, which is quite disturbing since I really love my ELC to bits. Okay I had a good crew since way back, just retrained it and jumped straight in. However, that experience is worth waiting for, if you have to train a crew from scratch. I can almost guarantee you will like this tank, if you understand how to scout and to be a nuisance in general.

I can't figure this one out at all. 14 games, 14 deaths, 0 kills, direct damage dealt 73!, received 550, indirect damage 180.83. Had expected a kill in the last one as it was the first game where I was NOT at the bottom of the list (all the others I was at the very bottom) and there was arty this time too for once....sigh

Oh I will...it's only a game and I want the Leo.....I know the Leo from RL:)

The French thingy, BRG BDR or something - looks like a kiddies drawing of a tank. Anyway, it's just as bad...well nearly,,11 games, 11 deaths and 0 kills.....giggle

I was scout for Leopard 1A5DK and Leopard 2A5DK IRL....the tank ingame is not like those machines sadly ;)

But the VK28.01 is the most fun tank in the game, that being said ;)

2782 battles with this tank with average WN8 of 3647.

It was a little monster in it's day. Post nerf I did stop playing it and now it sits empty since I there are so many other LT's now (esp german) that my crews sit in (t-15, Luch, RU 251).

I remember the days when even an tier 8 AMX90 was fair game. A shot and a ram usually did it. However, a lot of  AMX drivers soon wised up to the fact that a VK barreling towards them was not something to stick around and wait for and some became pretty proficient dodgers :teethhappy:

I want to take this tank out again despite loss of it's damage dealing ability. It had something else that made it mean - agility. Fast, good acceleration, turning ability, climbing speed. With scouting being quite hazardous in general these attributes are vital.

A lot of new scouts have come along in the game and I have played quite a few of them. I dare say that few of them have the fun factor and versatility of the VK.

What I miss the most about VK 28.01 is it's speed... It used to be more agile, I mean, it's OKAY at the moment, but it used to be more fun ... :playing:

Oh, and I'd like to take some time in the future to prove that 75mm gun isn't that bad. :izmena:

I agree, that 10,5cm gun is more effective but I wouldn't ditch the 75mm either.

I used to play the vk 28.01 for quite a bit when it was still tier 5. I would say this is the tank I learned the most about the game with... spotting, using camo and concealment, causing distractions for my allies. Honorary mentions of course to "TAZILON'S COMPLETE GUIDE to the VK-2801 COUGAR " which enabled me to enjoy this little beast as much as i did.

Then it was bumped to tier 6 and basically nerfed twice (lower top speed, worse heat pen) and i kind of forgot about it for quite some time. But i started to play it again recently and yesterday i got my 3rd mark of excellence in. Still one of my all time favourites.

It is still a rocking little tank!

The 28.01 is more agile now than it has ever been.   While the nerfs reduced its ability in other areas, agility was buffed.

Every so often someone comes along and tries to convince people the 7.5 cm is an ok gun choice for the VK 28.01.   It isn't.   Running the 7.5cm instead of the 105mm severely limits what you can do with the 28.01.   It is a horrible idea.

Did not play it serious for quite a while.

Watched a vid from Tazilon about how to use it..

Had loads of fun today and:

Txs Taz, you got me into scouting with all your vids/tips etc. since your first set of vids on U Tube.

After the ELC, AMX 12t and the MT-25 the Vk28.01 felt the easiest scout to get the 3MOE on it.

The fact that you always can do (critical)damage from any range rocks and is relaxing to play. No weakspot searching, just (pre)aim and BANG....LoL.
