The recently introduced branch of Japanese heavy tanks is truly unique – just look at the example from the very top of the line!

Whilst I rather like playing against the new Japanese heavies (I needed practice with arty, for a start), I'm a little puzzled why this line was implemented now - are there not better real tanks to introduce first?

The Middle East would be rather ripe for interesting tech trees: both sides used a very wide range of types from inter-war clunkers all the way up to a range of Tier X candidates. Sort-of duplication with other trees (mainly USSR, British, French and American) wouldn't necessarily be a problem - see Jap Tiger versus 'regular' Tiger...

With the unlimited amount of premium shells traded in battles, I see little interest in having more tanks with big armours.

It will just introduce a vacuum for using more premium ammos...

The needs are fed by the laziness of many players, just using gold ammo for immediate front penetration, rather than trying something more complicated...

However, if a day Wargaming limits the number of premium ammos loaded in a given tank (like it was in Historical Battles, long ago...), then this branch would have a very different flavour.

I love this great game, and I am aware of the will and effort of programmers and people who led WG to make this game better, looking fresher and more satisfying for players.
But please note my humble opinion : With Japanese "Godzilla" tanks this game has crossed, by my opinion, the border of acceptable realism into the new realm after which everything is possible to expect. I am not sure is this good.

I agree 100%. The game is actually very, very good overall, with few things which could be improved and I believe that WG do all they can to make the game great while obviously (OK, obviously to some people), trying to generate a business income for themselves. However, fantasy tanks is the main thing which I'm personally not too keen on, although I appreciate that they are something which adds variety and in some cases bring in revenue.

Had lots of fun with it on test server (despite gold spammers and 3-4 BatArties every battle), and will be certainly better on live server. Definely want it. However, small buff in reload would be welcome, imo, since E-100 has almost same reload yet higher alpha. E-100 is slightly more mobile and Type 5 doesnt have that high armor advantage, so i think it that firepower should be roughly equal. We still dont know much though how this thing does in live server. All what ive seen is 2 yt vids with players that got pretty good games on their Type 5s, but it still doesnt tell much tbh. Lets wait few months more and see then! :honoring:

Quite sad that vocal minority gets what they want because they keep complaining to add tanks that are a) already in the game in a different nation (czechs) or b) just completely made up (this crap). I honestly don't see why wargaming gives in those weeaboos and silentstalkers crying but then a lot of the "decisions" wargaming makes are questionable at best.

I would be more happier if Italian tree was introduced.

"The most effective tactic is to cooperate with your teammates, in both attack and defense."

Well, since we all know how often that happens, that's the poor old Type 5 doomed then.

- Implement tanks that were only blueprints(highly doubt, I myself have drawn some of these when I was 10) drawn by Mr. super expert master degree battle tactician that planned to use these huge boxes in the jungle hilly terrain where a regular human being barely can pass through.
- Use a fictional monster name that has nothing to do with this in particular.
- Advertise it on the web, attract certain parts of players outside the game.
- PROFIT.

Yup - give or take the odd exception, Italy is the last tank producing nation to be totally unrepresented. Expanding the various existing lines with fantasy and blueprint tanks to create career progression paths is understandable, but I feel we're now just one step away from the new Ruritanian tank tree, featuring tanks that never existed from a nation that never existed.

On a slightly more serious note, I am also concerned that the devs now feel like anything new should be possibly the best thing since sliced bread, or has massive trade offs like the M56 Scorpion. The most successful tanks of our time are the equivalent of the Ford  Mondeo or Opel Vectra (plse insert your own nations' fave car here) that did most things quite well, but nothing exceptionally well. M4 Sherman series, T-34 series take your bow.

Oh but a big +1 for the big in Japan title; ooooooh it takes me back!!! https://www.youtube....h?v=Cg6rp20OGLo

Even if Profit is (of course legitimate) motivation, there are far better options than this.

They could on a long run loose many hardcore players oriented on historical immersion, just to atract people who enjoy 160 ton green free imagination pillboxes emerging (listen promotional video) like Godzilla from the Jungle.

As  mentioned  before, they could have ,for instance, introduce Italy as a nation and offer ,with existing clear historical documentation  ,for instance an  Italian Semovente TD line for the start. Italian TD-s (Semovente) series  were used in ww2 with great effect and even praised by the Germans off being as good (if not better) than some german TD-s, destroying both allied and USSR tanks. Experts in military history hold those real battle-prooven vehicles with  high esteem. Real stuff. Even aestethicaly, visualy, interesting tanks.

By this WOT will be refreshed, new players attracted, old ones mobilised, historical immersion preserved....

Its such great game , please don't ......

I would like to see the Apocalyps Russian tank...guaranteed last thing standing on the battlefield ( also good vs airplanes and naval vessels, so they can sell it in all their games))
