Hi,
We are considering participation in CW on the new global map.
Never done it before. Not the slightest clue.
I have read through http://worldoftanks....obal_map_guide/ ,
but much stays unclear. (Strangely, i don't have any sound in the explanation videos!? - don't know if this is how it should be. No problems with sound in browser otherwise, so just wondering.)

I have understood the concept and mechanics of landing auctions.
What i don't get is the link between what is done on the global map (web site) and what happens in-game.
Once we have won an auction and there is some battle scheduled for a certain time. When and how do players have to meet in-game? What does a single player have to do to join the battle? What does the combat officer have to do?

(Don't take anything for granted in your explanations, remember you're talking to a complete CW noob that never has seen the corresponding in-game UI)

More questions to follow probably.

When you win an auction or have a battle in a landing tournament, a Special Battle button pops up in game, like so:

Clicking this brings you to here:

:

Click on this and you get this:

Here you can select your team composition. Note that anyone can move people in and out of teams.

Another question:

Concerning auctions,

imagine A places bid with 300, B 400.

B wins, but how much does he need to pay?

301? (Like it would be on eBay)

400?

I think it's 400, but I'm not sure.

You pay what you bid, so in your example B wins the auction by bidding 400, he pays 400 and in return gets 1 division and the right to fight the province owner.

Questions continued:

Concerning the use of combat reserves (arty/bomber strike): The global map guide says:

By default, Combat Reserves can be used in a World of Tanks battle by the player who holds the highest position on the team. An exception is made for the Combat Officer having the highest priority in the battle. If several players hold the same position, the right to use Combat Reserves is vested in the player who joined the clan earlier.

Each clan can manually establish priority by placing its members in a certain order. Changing priority does not affect the battles that have already been scheduled for the clan. However, manual settings apply for all the future battles.

This isn't clear for me.

who holds the highest position on the team

Do we speak about rank in the clan here? Commander > .. > Private > Recruit ?

An exception is made ...

I don't understand what the exception is about? Is it that combat officer has precedence over other ranks?

If several players hold the same position, ...

Ok. But combat officer is exception to *that* rule?

Each clan can manually establish priority by placing its members in a certain order. Changing priority does not affect the battles that have already been scheduled for the clan. However, manual settings apply for all the future battles.

Isn't this in contradiction to what is said earlier? Is priority determined automatically or manually? How to set ti manually? Move people on the battle roster? Top position has highest priority?

There is an order set automatically, combat officer > commander > XO > etc.

However, you can change this by clicking the cog on the global map, and re-ordering the members of your clan. By default, it just means that the combat officer who has been in the clan the longest will get the consumables for any battle that he is in, and continue down the priority list until it finds someone who is in the battle.

Which rank do you need to change this order?  They put me on spot 100 or something, just because I used to hit some teammates in my arty. Bunch of whiners. :sceptic:

I believe XO, but I'm not certain. Maybe combat officers or personnel officers can alter it too.

Are the cool guys now sitting on place 90 - 100 for arty strikes?

More questions:

Auction province = A province where a clan can land only by taking part in an auction.

Landing province = A province in which you can land through a tournament. A landing province is marked with a special symbol on the map

Clear.

But it seems a part from a few landing provinces *everything else* is auction province? (speaking tier 6 front)

I would have expected they were more scarce.

I find it difficult to build up any coherent strategy. Every night is just random attacks from clans falling out of the sky.

No problem with the action in general, but it makes any global planning and diplomacy impossible.

Everything would be so much more balanced and interesting if auction provinces were limited to say the borders of each front, giving higher income. While inland provinces would have lower income but the benefit of being attackable only by direct neighbours.

Is it any different on other fronts?

Can someone give me an example of a province that is neither auction nor landing province?

Everything is either a landing province or a province available to be auctioned. Building an alliance for delays is the most effective way to counter this.
