There have always been pirates, and there still are, but the notorious Jolly Roger flag that was also the emblem of the PTS clan comes from a later era.

No it is certainly not. The shape of the bow is definitely from a classical era although I cannot name the actual culture it comes from. Other telltale features are the shape and position of the ram, and that it only has one mast with lateen sail. 16th - 18th century Galleys still had lateen sails, but they had two to three masts.

I am not an expert to many things, but I dare you to challenge me on matters related to sailing ships. I've been interested in them since the release of Sid Meier's Pirates! game and that came out in 1987. :B

Even my own image is not quite appropriate because it features a ship from the 16th Century rather than the golden age of piracy, the 17th Century, but that was the best I could find.

But then you can't see if it's lost it's forward mast, that ram shape is just best for avoiding pinning yourself to your sinking victim and didn't think was exclusive to classical period, it does have forward openings that could accommodate cannon, and it's very shallow for a classical galley and couldn't accommodate more than 2 banks of rowers. What made me think it was 18th century (ish) was the embossed scroll-work, which if classical would be likely Roman but it doesn't look like a trireme. But you may well be right, I guess it's down to what the artist meant to convey (as obviously it's a popular culture imagined picture rather than a photo and there are no real classical ones in existence for him to copy), & looking very closely, it's got no deck cannon & it might have a few arrows sticking in it which obviously implies pre late medieval. So you're probably right, it's meant to be Roman but wolfhead implies Rome itself, so not pirates, unless they knicked it :-)

But it was. Renaissance and later had different rams. In classical era, they were fixed and placed roughly at the waterline. Later, even if they were fixed, they were way above waterline. And that bow shape just didn't survive beyond classical era. Check this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galley

And see yourself how the bow is distinctively different in galleys from classical era (assyrian warship & ancient greek) and renaissance & later (16th century maltese ship, 13th century war galley) .

Yes, it definitely isn't a trireme or even a bireme but there were smaller galleys as well. Possibly artistic licence used here, like you said.

Also IIRC you guys were pretty much the only ones with enough dedication to train(?) atleast somehow frequently so you already had an edge against other clans on that regard. But yeh, most of "original" PTS members would be pretty much in the green/blue zone right now.

Just a FYI, some of the "PTS 2.0" guys went to FAME/Other clans, WG hasn't recorded clan history during the times when PTS was dominant (read edit), so you really cant know where any of the original members are, unless you were there and knew the guys. Looking at your registration date, you werent there and you dont know.

No stat site shows history far enough back to see pre 1st campaign PTS members which Lister was most likely talking about (Back when Maysan was held by PTS for over 365 days, heck cant even remember the exact time but it was ridiculous. Sand River was too hard to play against you guys :< )

Edit: WG has stored the info, but only a few sites show the history far enough back. Found one though: http://wotclans.net/...istory/clan/PTS

Although PTS were not what they once were, it's always sad to see historical tag WOT disappear... :(

PTS who disappear, EXNOM who can't rebuild itself... can be signs of the decline of WOT... ?? :amazed:

20 of the 95 players in FAME ( at the moment) had a PTS clantag once, never said it were the recent ex members of PTS if you want to troll, read first.

What the hell are you talking about? Who is flaming?

Do I have to emphasize on who was taking dumps all over front-line news while the last PTS was still repairing its wounds?

And how much it cost our SH?

Do you know what RIP means?

And why spill this internal BS of who kicked who all over the forum?
