Hi there, does anyone know of any good third party chat software?   Basically I'm looking for something where I could hit 'enter' and a chat window would open up on the screen and I could type a message to other people in my platoon that would pop up on their screen...so we wouldn't have to keep minimizing or maxmizing the chat window to check messages.

And recommendations would be greatly appreciated :)

Wait, if you're in a platoon then couldn't you just type using the in-game chat?

But, I don't think there is a chatting software that allows this. However, I do believe there is an overlay plugin for TeamSpeak if you would want to try that.

Discord is my new favourite. It's a mix of Skype and Teamspeak, specifically orientated towards gamers...and it's completely free. I use it a lot now. Servers are free as well.

Sounds interesting. I guess its similar to TS as in you need to connect to the server?

It's more like Skype group chats that you're part of. You connect to them by clicking on the little bubble on the left. Like TS in that you have to connect to the server and only one works at once, but like Skype in that there's no IP address and PW to find.

Servers are free, and you can invite friends to them just like Skype chats.
