In my opinion, it is a very good all around arty at tier 8.  It is only the best at gun depression, frontal armor, and is tied for best at minimum stun damage.  It is the worst at dpm, but not by a lot.  It is the second most mobile arty at tier 8, only the BC-150-51 is more mobile.  It only has 1mm less pen than the best at tier 8.  It is the second best in terms of camo and has the best view range.

 

So in my opinion, it is a good all around arty.   It is my second favorite at tier 8.  My favorite is the SU-14-2.

 

But the above is just my opinion.  Some people think the M43 is the best, others might think the GW Tiger P is the best....or the BC-155-51 is the best.  And there is that one strange dude from Latvia that ranks the FV-207 as superior compared to the rest.  But, what does he know....

 

Oh....when you drive through Himmelsdorf in your M-43, all of the ladies will swoon because they love it.

Let me just add that the M40/43 is also a solid choice for Frontline (once they reactivate that game mode) if you wanna choose one of the higher-alpha SPGs but retain an acceptable level of mobility (which is important if you are matched on the defending site)

GW TigerP and SU14-1 are often enough dead meat once their sector is captured even if they had been prudent enough to relocate as far back as possible, but the M40/43 has a tiny chance of being agile enough to turn around and hurry away just in the nick of time.

(of course you can respawn anyways, but keeping repair costs low is always nice and someone might snatch away the SPG slot while you are destroyed and wait for the respawn)

What equipment do you use? I use rammer, GLD, roation device. But I'm wondering if it might be worth it to switch GLD for improved speed (whatever it's called). This would maximize your speed and turning to make relocations faster. Although it would require more aiming after relocating, so maybe keep GLD and ditch rotation device instead. Has anyone tried any such combination?

Well on mine Rammer, GLD & Turbo seems to work ok.

Hmm... come to think of it Turbo might also be a solid choice in regards to Frontline battles, especially when being a SPG on the defending site.
