With the upcoming addition of the Czechoslovak tech tree into the the game, I thought it would be a good time to reflect and re-introduce this little Czech tank destroyer called Škoda Š-I-D.

This small assault gun, or "Malý útočný vůz" as it was designated by Škoda, was developed and created through 1935-1937, for the needs of the army of Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The Yugoslavian officials were not content with the concept of lightly armed and armored tankettes and thus they provided crucial concepts and design elements that would result in the creation of this tank destroyer.

In 1935 a single prototype was delivered for testing, designated as Š-I-d. It boasted 5-20mm of armor, an air-cooled six-cylinder engine, with top speed of 40 km/h, and a 3,7cm Škoda A3 anti-tank gun with 30 rounds. The Yugoslav officials were satisfied with this model, with the addition of a few changes in design. These changes were implemented, and in 1936-1937 further 8 vehicles were delivered, of the improved model, now designated Š-I-D. The front armor got raised to 22mm, the improved 37mm A3J anti-tank gun was installed, with 42 rounds carried, and an improved engine which raised the top speed to 41km/h.
Forming the "Ескадрон брзих борних кола" (
“Fast Combat Vehicles Squadron”) , these tanks, alongside Yugoslav Renault R-35's and FT-17's,  fought bravely during the 1941 Axis invasion of Yugoslavia, but stood little chance in the face of overwhelming German panzers. Most, if not all, were captured, repaired, and put back into service for the Waffen SS, now designated as Pz.Kpfw. 32(j).

Personally, I think this tank would be a great addition for the upcoming Czech tree, as a tier II/III TD. What do you think ? Would you like to see this in-game ? Cast your vote, and maybe we could see it in-game sometime in the future.

Thanks for reading.

Looks like a very low tier vehicle to me.

I've nothing against that, but WG probably wants to put in a whole branch leading up to a tier 10 vehicle.

You can get a "why not?" from me, but I don't see much of a point in adding a tier 2 or 3 vehicle that leads nowhere either.
