What are your first impressions on the new t8? How does it compare to other meds?

Not really enjoying mine to be honest.

Armor not good

Size of a E100

Gun is ok but like most tier 8's unless you spam gold in tier 10 games you are useless.

Fairly mediocre.

Did I mention it's freaking huge?

*update after playing it more*

It's crap. Can't really say anymore than that, even when elited it's pretty poor, hasn't bounced a shot yet from anything tier 7 or above, too big to be classed as a medium, can't really say anything positive about it. Actually met one in my t54-prot and ripped it to shreds. I imagine most small nimble tier 8 meds will find these fairly easy to kill.

Hmm.. I freexped to the tier 6 hoping to get a nice grind up the rest of the tree.. So far the 6 seems decent to pretty good, tier 7 looks meh, tier 8 is crap as you mentioned. The tier 9 better be freaking awesome

Well my unibob mate says his tie r9 is excellent but he's pretty damn good in all tanks, the one's I've met tonight died fairly quickly...so it might be one of those that might be great if the player is also great and if you're bad then the tank might not be good enough (cough cough E5 stylie) to help you out.

I'm not happy with my TVP. Its like an AMX CDC (huge and with paper armour) exept with worse gun handling (the depression of the gun feels very bad) and less speed.

I have a good crew in it but it doesn't seem to help very much..

Wierd game that WOT. I expected T8 to be total crap. On paper its so much worse then CDC.

- Worse depression (-6 vs -10)

- Worse mobility

- Worse viewrange (370 vs 390)

- As big as CDC

- Same ROF with the 88 mm

I was toying with the idea to free XP that tank, but decided not to because its simply to expensive. I gave it a try. But what happened is that I have 3K avg damage after 5 games . I know only 5 games but still (elited it from start). What makes it work so far is the gun which is way better then CDC gun. Ok you still can't carry in this tank but that gun has nice aimtime and it just hits targets. Also the disprersion and bloom are very good. Will see how it work from now on.

Actually two of those are a bit..complicated.

The top turret has 380m view range, but only gives you six degrees of gun depression. While the stock turret gives you eight, both with the long 88 of course (the 105 has five, regardless of turret), at the price of 10m of base view range, 100hp, and about half a second of reload time.

Also the stock turret is 1,5 tons lighter, which helps your mobility somewhat.

The 105 is not worth to play in any situation. Its just a bad gun. 320 alpha in no was justifies low ROF lower PEN and lower depression. That stock turret is interesting. -8 depression would help the tank a lot. Thx for pointing that out. I will try it.

I agree on the 105, just included the information on it for comparison/completeness sakes.

Mounting the 88 then?

===========

After around 150 battles I've finished the grind on the Czechoslovakian T8 tank, the TVP VTU. All in all I can say it's quite a capable T8 medium, not the worst and not the best but it will get the job done if you don't force it into engagements it doesn't like.

TVP tier 8 is decent. Too big for medium but still reliable. I love that 8.8 cm gun and mobility. You mentioned worse gun depresion but it has (-8/+20 for 100mm and 88mm)

Overall good tank BUT PLAY IT and dont read only stats. Somehow its really reliable (good dmg) and fun...

Here is some gamplay on steppes, 5k damage, 7 kills, almost unable to carry it, but... did it

Stock Turret, 2nd engine, 88 gun, looking forward to it even if it's not a carry tank really.

i want to skip it but i need the xp to install the modules of the t9 :(

is a clone of the t6 premium, huge, unarmored and mobility is sub par.

i got the mastery with 1226 base xp(1839 with prem) so it says how bad is the tank...

Well I decided to skip with free XP after half the grind (a little more), because I was at 60% win rate and I did want to stay at that. I had plans to freeXP at 100K earned XP but then decided to do it at 80K. My final verdict is, that while compared to other t8 meds it is subpar, its still a workable tank. Actually not to bad. It surely is inferior to Pershing or STA-1, but I find it better then Panther 2 for instance. Mobility is not so bad actually, its no CDC but its quite mobile at least for me.

But what makes the tank work is the 88m  gun. Do not mount anything but this gun on it. Put vents, VSTAB and rammer on it  (optics is a waste since it has bad viewrange)  and you will have a really nice sniper. I found out the gun is really reliable. It always hits where you aim. So just abuse that and you will do fine. Finished with 60% win rate and 1800 DPG.

And T50 T9 is totaly worth it. A wonderfull machine.

Seems to get 5 more elevation on the stock turret with the 8.8 as well.

Surprised no one has mentioned what it feels like to get hit in this tank....

-injured driver

-damaged ammorack

-damaged engine

-injured gunner

-fire

I bought a mountain of food on sale and I'm too scared to drop any consumables in this driving pile of module damage.

Edit: Anyone else having a horrible time hitting stuff with this tank? The aimed accuracy seems to be terrible, it might just be because the tank is so crap you have to keep it at range but it hits almost 10% less than any other tier 8 I've played.

-accuracy is horrible, even with the reticle closed shoots fail to hit remotely close to the weakspot area, so tanks like the is3/5/6 are really annoying to face.

hunting arties in this pos is depressing, HE pierce a lot of times, and you are neither agile nor you have enough alpha to deal with them quick.

Tip: play rampage and get a load of those personal reserves, then spam invites to your clan/friends begging them to carry you for 2 hours while you have those running, if you can bear to play it for that long..

Also, skipping both engines and the radio myself, that will be 37.6k XP I wont have to grind on this. It will never really be fast and as long as you have the tracks for the ground resistance, you can keep up with fully upgraded TVPs pretty well.

Stock radio (in case you didn't get this on the T-34/100) means you will, on rare occasions, not see stuff on the other end of the map, but in general it's not too bad. The tier 9 stock radio has loads of range so not important to get it for that either.

Ok after playing this a bit more i must say im very happy whit the tank.

Tested it whit the top turret and the 10,5 cm gun. Not good. Bad accuracy and long aim time whit added bonus of lower pen was working against me.

Tested stock turret whit top gun - same result ( that is if you dont spam gold ).

Top turret + 8.8 gun = great success.

Whit food, BIA, Vents and Gun rammer - i get 5.56 sec reload time on a gun whit great handling and fast aimt time. Making it an prime sniper. Now the top turret lower the gun depression from -8 to -6 and that on few occasions will be a hindrance. But overall whit the reload speed you will wreck tanks that are your tier or tier above. Also tracking in that case works wonders as most tanks on this tier wont be able to repair before the next shot.

Overall i was expecting to free exp this tank - but now - i think i will finish the grind. My overall dmg in it have been on the rise. That been said - scout autoloaders will often yolo you as every shot will pen ( outside of freack autobaunce's ).

Funny little thing as added bonus - is it just me or is the thank rather stealthy ?

Had the same experience . Don't know how some people have problem with accuracy. With correct setup as you mentioned the accuracy is great and bloom values also. You can actually hit stuff on the move.
