I used to rage about arty and all my misfortunes. Now that I blast Neil Diamond music and have keep myself at bay with a glass of spirits (preferably whiskey) I am now at peace.

Who would have known

Seems I'll need something stronger than whiskey

Massive Attack or Portishead for me, with a generous glug of Jack Daniels "Silver Select" over ice..........a few times over and over again.

A selection of melodies from 'South Pacific', or by that popular pop combo 'The Monkeys' would do it for me, but the whisky would be essential. For occasions like this WOT really should allow you to put a self imposed time lock on your garage sales, until at least the morning after the night before.

A bottle of wine, some good platoon buddies and the kids playing in Dads games room behind me on one of the PC's next to mine.

The platoon keep my spirits up, the kids presence stops me getting sweary and the wine makes me mellow. A good evening can be generally had by all.

Vodka and SH usually go hand in hand for a soothing experience.

It is a constant source of amazement to me that anyone would even consider playing tanks sober.

From my life experience I find that alcohol tend to elevate rage, and weed tend to diminish it. To each his own I guess :)

I'm much more agreeable drunk than sober ;)  Mind you, that isn't a very high bar to cross.

Tried weed a few times but hated it as like most hard drugs it makes you stupid whereas, within reason, alcohol sparks you up.  Tobacco is good stuff though, and very calming.  Nicotine is as far as I know the only drug that increases intelligence.

music and some intoxicants can't be wrong

... and regarding alcohol making you stupid over time ... it's actually found that life over time makes you dead ... not only that ... 100% confirmed that ANYONE having drunk water will die ...

enjoy life (responsibly!)

Too much of it, for sure.  But all of the cleverest people I have known were heavy drinkers.  It helps them cope with the 99.9% who inhabit a different and slower world.

I think it's a good thing that not all of us react exactly the same to a given substance :)

I'm not going to go into a lengthy debate with you on drugs here, let's just say that I disagree with most of what you wrote, on counts like nicotine being as adictive as heroine which is a seriously bad thing, studies from Switzerland concuding that using weed does not impact your ability to learn, though weed and nicotine usage in combination does, and nicotine by itself. If you can link to an article that shows evidence for increased intelligence by way of nicotine I'd really like to see it as it is the first time in history I've heard someone claim that, and I've been interested in intoxicants for a good 10 years.
