Ohh, [edited]off. The M18 Hellcat is unplayable after the nerf (death penalty). I played on a other account pretty much only the Hellcat and I just leave the game after that pointless nerf.

Cheers, Saga

After the Huge massive un-called for Nerf for the Hellcat in both traverse (reverse like a snail now) THEN the manoeuvrability nerfs (like a Heavy turning now) THEN the big TD view range nerfs, THEN the TD camo after firing nerfs THEN the 25% RNG could go on, but ~

never mind the endless Corridor maps where a TD has zero advantages as there is no cover, no trees no bushes, then City maps all day so lol! WG yeah play a TD mega lol right?

WHY WOULD ANYONE PLAY A TANK DESTROYER!

or this rubbish Wargame GUIDE below is a sick joke now as the MAPS (you know where the Hellcat plays) make ALL the below just so dam stupid to read

this in 2015 -16  the year of the Heavy Tank with endless (small) corridor maps

  • Don’t be visible. You remember why, right? Invisibility is your best defence.
  • Don’t stray far away from cover. When you get spotted, and this is going to happen eventually, you will not have much time to hide, especially with your turtle-like reverse speed.
  • Don’t engage in in fire exchanges. It is you who is supposed to shoot at them. Especially when the second round your opponent loads is an HE shell, and… remember? Exactly.
  • Avoid close-distance fighting.

I wish the Hellcat will get a buff. The M18 was once a really nice tanks but it's not funny with 12km/h backwards, 20 km/h was Ok and good for 72 km/h forward.

Buff it. <333

I still have it, but it is collecting dust and it's a prime candidate for an extra garage slot. The excellent crew will hopefully find a better home soon

Well, didn't get to play it before it got nerfed to the oblivion, was a few days late, but can say, it's just mediocre, maybe not even that, isn't as fast and manouvarable as they advertise, and the DPM is just crap, I mean compare the gun with Nashorn, I know Nashorn is turretless but you get the point.

It was a decent fast mobile TD perhaps this was the problem it was doing a little to well. so it got nerfed a little.

Its niot terrible but its not the TD it once was, its really too sluggish and never rally raches its top speed.

Newer tanks can run rings around it and as for staying hidden thats not easy on many maps.

I feel it needs a boost to its mobility.

What they said above sums it up nicely.

I still Keep it in one Slot, maybe one day you will realise what you did to this poor tank and buff it again to its previous Level so I can play it again.

So I'm the one actually still liking it..

One of my best tanks in the garage, the stealth is real with the Hellcat.

Yes, getting flanked by mediums means instant death. Keep yourself in the back and be the invisible support.

Keep it real, before the nerf it was OP as hell(cat) :P

It can go to bush fast and has a turret, which as far as I'm concerned makes it a top-notch TD. Have only played it in its current state though so mine doesn't feel robbed.

The Gun is Ok. The fail is the speed, 12mm armor is nothing, so give the Hellcat better ground resistance and 20 or 22 km/h backward speed! Another idea is you compleatly rebalance the Hellcat, do not give the Hellcat the 90 mm gun and the M36 turret and bring out a new tier 6 Td, the M18 Super Hellcat like the Hellcat was befor 9.3 (the nerf).

I do have to agree with Traangas. I still love the Hellcat. I played it a lot before the nerf, I played it a lot after the nerf. I had two of my best games after the nerf (over 4k damage twice in the week after the nerf). But, the Tank Academy is right. The Hellcat requieres a very specific playstyle, which does not suit many players at that. You need to use the mobility. You need to use the view range and extend the view range with crew skills. But the Hellcat can excel even when being a low tier tank. I had countless games with the Hellcat being one of the few tier VI in a mainly Tier VIII game and still did most damage.

So, if you want to know how to play the Hellcat, you might want to watch the following replay uploaded by me(early upload, later vids are better, but this game shows good Hellcat-gameplay):

Just for those wondering:

Yes, I played over 2.6k games in the Hellcat and am training the 5th skill. It does make a difference. But it's not all. You really have to become the Hellcat and stalk your opponents. You have to know how to use spotting mechanics to your advantage. And then you will succeed. It's not for nothing that Hellcats get targeted quickly.

Firstly, it was over-nerfed, it needed one to be honest, but same as always, WG over did it and its now pure junk.

And 2ndly, why on earth would anyone play anything but a Russian heavy tank in current meta that view range, accuracy and camo mean nothing and you constantly get Ensk, Ruinberg, Himmelsdorf, Wind Storm, Stalingrad, Kharkov and etc.

this is like desecrating a dead body in an ancient tomb, after the mega nerf i barely see hellcats in random games.

I played it like 150-200 battles before the 9.3 nerf. I got 10 frags in it before my crew had it's 1st perk on 100%. Yeah it was OP, and I really was a fool for not purchasing this beast of a tank before. But maybe you shouldn't have nerfed it below the usefulness of Churchill Gun Carriage? I mean buff the maneuverability - backwards, turning rate - it doesn't need 72km/h going forwards. 60km/h is ok - if it could actually reach it.
