microsoft's relentless pushing windows 10 at me has really REALLY made me wanna try a different operating system provider.

I'm looking at ubuntu right now but I can't find much of anything on the internet about what you can actually run on it.  will this game (or other games) run on it?  anything anyone can tell me from experience?  thanks.

I've used Ubuntu for a long time, since Warty Warthog (whenever that was).  For day to day stuff it works well but running this or any game can involve a lot of work and in some cases you will never get it running satisfactorily.

What's wrong with being encouraged to upgrade to Windows 10?  It's free for another couple of months and supposedly it will be the "final" version of Windows so it's free forever and if you already have a retail licence for Win7 or 8 you can move it to new hardware.  It's win-win as far as I can see.  And it's a vast improvement on Windows 8.

If you want to get rid of the nag popup about Windows 10 then there's plenty of instructions on the net, if you can't manage to find and follow any of those then Linux isn't for you anyway.

Yeah, linux is complicated. If the windows 10 popup annoys you, remove it. Just google "remove windows 10 popup".

Still nothing beats linux when it comes to running network simulators... but I guess you're not into that sort of thing :harp:

ubuntu for daily use is more annoying then the windows 10 pop-ups which are very easely removed.

the popups were bad enough, and you're right they're easily removed.  but now there's apparently some 'bug' interfering with getting updates for win 7, and I'm suspecting that might not be an error, because microsoft is being SO aggressive about win 10.  they've already even forced the install files onto my computer without even asking.  I would just love to find another os and fire these jerkoffs.

You can always move to North Korea for their OS

You can install Ubuntu alongside Windows, there are guides on the Ubuntu site on setting up dual boot.  Try it and see.
