Dear fellow tankers,

I recently unlocked the AMX 12 t on the French light tank line and have just today received my first mark of excellence. Now I am not the greatest player and not at all good in the 12 t and this is why i am hoping some on you in the community have some tips on improving my performance in the 12 t.

Generally I sit up and scout fro around 5 mins and depending on how the game plans out I either continue on and support my team find the enemy or move in and play a more agressive role which seems to work well with the auto loader.

Any tips or moves that anyone would like to share?

Many Thanks.

It's one of the best scout tanks on tier VI in the game. Small profile, amazing camo. The autoloader is equally amazing; works well with AP and APCR, depending on where you are in the food chain. The amount of APCR you should carry increases steadily from the ELC to the 13 90. The 12t can still be driven comfortably with a lot of AP while its successors need loads of APCR to perform equally well.

You can either play as scout in aggressive positions thanks to its camo or as support tank in a flanking and harassing role.

Just played this tank today. Tier 7 game, 3000+ DMG, ace tanker, top gun

Now, a big issue I run into a lot is low ammo capacity. I carry 24 AP shells, and 6 APCR shells. I ended up shooting 2 APCR in hellcats sides, missing one, 3 in panther M10s rear and then just standing there looking dumb while waiting for my team to arrive and finish off the rest 800HP from pather. This is the only tank I actually run out of ammo in

You will no doubt be glad to hear it's gaining six additional shells in 9,18 then.

What do people think of this tank now?

I'm not a fan myself. Before 9:18 I'd manged to get 2 marks on it. You had to play it so carefully and passively. Now you have to play it even more passively than before. The 4 shall magazine I can live with but the aim time and 2.5 seconds between shots is horrible.

I'm going to review where I am with it and decide whether I'll jump up to the 13 75 or stick and push for 3 marks. The 13 75 looks like its a better tank than it was pre 9:18.

The 12t attracts the worst teams in WOT.  I'm talking full-on potatoes!

It's not going to matter what you do in this tank, if you are bottom tier you are going to lose most games because it is incapable of carrying a team.

Avoid it. Free XP through it.  Just don't drive yourself crazy trying to play it.  Wargaming have utterly killed it.

Image above is the results from a lunch-time session. The two games that my team won I was one of the top-tier tanks.

Can't understand how people dislike this tank and seem to struggle in it. I stat-padded to disgusting levels in it post light tank re-balance.

I've also got a 50%+ survival rate in it.

Its not much of an active scout but as a passive scout/TD it is incredibly good. And even if you don't want to scout you can farm damage in it.

Autoloaders are generally very deadly if played by skilled players. For reference, i'm the best Skoda T25 tanker this month, according to the new Hall Of Fame (Still need 14 battles to enter ranking, sitting at 64% WR and 1556 DPG recent)

I sold the 12T in the end. I couldn't push on or get used to the changes. Shame as I thought I might stand a chance of 3 marking it. But alas no.

Got the 13 75 now. That is a complete animal right now. Far better, for me anyway.

I have two questions regarding the amx 12t:

1. Is it normal to be set on fire every other battle? It's starting to get really annoying.

2. Did anybody ever manage to pen all 4 shots in the magazine? I'm starting to hold back if I know I need more than 2 pens to take out the enemy. The gun is soooo unreliable

Tip from me. Engine is at the front and the turret is at the rear. If you're going to peek then turn round and reverse out.

less engine damage and fires, less tank to hit, drive forward faster to get back into cover and your gun is available rather than having to fully drive out of cover.

in response to your second question. No, hardly ever. It is the "autoloader thing". At least one flies off in some crazy random direction.

Just unlocked it, and reading up on it, the general advice on it is to passive scout for the first part and then go hunting once the opposition has been thinned out. Is that how you guys play (of course depending on bottom vs top tier & team composition & map)? I was also wondering what equipment you guys run? Vents, Binocs & camo net? (0 skill crew btw, except for her ladyship commander thanks to compensation).

With zero skill crew then binocs would get my vote. Play very passive and / or safe

I use same playstyle. Currently use optics, binos and camo net, originally intended for optimum spotting for missions. Have advanced to 13 90 for missions now, revisited the 12t to get access to arty for mission...  :harp:

Still I think to keep the 12t for fun, I like the french lights in general, most seem pretty weak stats-wise, but somehow they fit my playstyle.

Currently I have camo reasonobly trained ~ 275%, thinking to swap the 75% dude when fully trained to get bia. Thinking to swap camo net and binos to improve gun handling, aim time is simply too long.

I'm dumbfounded too. After 61 games: 962 average damage done, 1500 combined average damage - 45,9 % wr. My last four games in it for example: https://imgur.com/a/eEFos

I get a potato team like 9/10 games, and the only reason I don't have 10 % wr in it, is because I manage to carry those few games to victory. What is it with this tank? Must I do 3000 combined damage per game or what to get my wr above 50 %?

The tank is perfectly fine and I'm currently approaching the 2nd MOE with it: good mobility, nice gun with an autoloader, excellent APCR penetration, great camo, decent view range, small profile. It just attracts awful teams. It's one thing to get t8 games with it, and another thing to end up as the top damage dealer in those as the bottom tier tank.

Feeling the same. Got some accaunt, bought 12t, got more than 100 battles and cant do a crapin this tank, as loosing and loosing, teams just dissapers and i wanish together with them, without doing any reasonable damage. In a week could not get a win. Actual wr is not telling how bad is situation, because it just falls down rapidly, im scared to play in it, because again will loose.
