Ah, patch day - a day of vanilla reticules, no aimbots, no laser pointers, and all the other junk the majority of the playerbase seems to need. As it turned out, however, it was also a morning of colossal lemmingtrains, braindead zergrushes, and the usual higher functioning cretinism we get to experience. In short, an unhappy gaming experience - although the last week or so have been bloody dire because holidays.

Anyway, so more than halfway through the "Year of BIG CHANGES™" and what's changed?

Nothing. Well, in fact, some stuff has changed - we got even more powercreep with Grillinja 15, the T11OP E5, and endless fun of massive TVP burst. We got some more godawful corridor maps were made worse, a half-hearted garage filter without carousel, and that's about it.

The main issues remain - awful maps, borked spotting mechanic, powercreep, bots/AFK grinders, and everyone's favourite game wrecker; arty.

Note: things are so bad currently I've actually reinstalled WT... That's how much fun I've not been having trying to dodge TVP bursts, impregnable E5s, ninja sniping Grilles, whilst trying to carry teams of 1 shot of HE damage windowlickers.

As for arty - well, to be honest, getting clicked back to garage is often proving to be a blessed release from trying to play with 10 or more teammates doing the most idiotic things imaginable.

Now, given that this year's BIG CHANGES™ have actually been no changes at all, and that the sandbox feedback seems to suggest that WG's idea of game improvement is to nerf everything except RU brawlers, do we have any hope for this game to go anywhere except up its own backside?

Is it all over?

i feel the same as you man, all you mentioned are my problems with this game! been playing this game since 2012 and one thing is clear! WG is hardly listening and PR is poor. despite all this we get an update that breaks the fishy mods but all the other good stuff too. i am gonna give WT a try after i am done with my XCOM 2 run.

Can't disagree at all, for all the changes that have been promised I haven't actually seen anything actually change.

I agree on the cheat mods but it will be a pita to sort crews when you run them in multiple tonks and many other things...

It sort of makes me think of the the titanic just after the iceberg hit. So the boat is sinking, there are only hours left but hey we better work on that paint job on B deck.

But captain.... The passengers, shouldn't we try to deal with the pressing issue?

No, no. I'm pretty sure that the lifeboats are working as intended. That paint however.... Shouldn't it be HD? To work gentlemen!

I have to agree whit you Dunc.

Game in T10 is kinda aids. Huge rolfstomps, game lasting two mins before one of the team is down to 3 tanks alive. Tons of E5 rolling and heat spaming everything in sight. Arty craping i mean clicking on everything. Maps getting more retard proofed and yet more and more yolo fail teams.

I truly wonder how did WG manage to make a game as great as WoT and then take a canister of gasoline and set it on fire all the while chanting:

I agree with all the above, my game count has gone down from 100+ a week, to about +100 a month.  All down to the unenjoyable gaming experiance as mentioned in all the above.  :(

Remember the stick and see the dangling carrot as is and will ever be. A dangling carrot on a stick.

Only then, one can let go.

So that's why I've won all my 6 games so far today, all my lights easy, cuz it's patch day so I'm not competing against people with cheat mods. Even though I won every game though, still killed almost every game by arty, and every game ruined by nobs in fast modern tanks or with auto-loaders, scumbag Bulldogs etc.

It's easy to see what's ruined the game, with all the exclusive rewards like PM's and CW's tanks, they turned it into only a game, where you're either a try-hard using every mod and trick going cuz the exclusive end justifies the means, or you're just a peasant and there's no point trying at all. And they ruined the special interest WW2 element with too many modern tanks trying to copy Armoured Warfare, that the padders just love cuz they go so well with their cheat mods. Yolo rules.

Heros never die!

Seriously to answer you question, regardless of it's faults (which there are several) WoT is still more fun to play (at least for me) than WT or AW (PvP mode). As long as this remains true I doubt this game will die off any time soon. In fact I would be prepared to put money on WG shutting WoT down before it dies on it's own (that is if they ever get around to making WoT 2 - Attack of the Killer Tomatoes).

Biggest problem wot has it not actually the game itself but the people palying it.

For example just look at the current "hackusations", since this stuff became populare now every muppet and his familie crys "hacks" at least once a game.

And you dont need xvm to tell that those crybabys are barely ever potatos mostly tomatos.

But i guess its the curse of every online game that becomes successfull, it will sooner or later drowned with cod community "trash". aka = lobotomites

Gratz on the wins but didn't you uninstall and quit the other day in order to save your sanity?

I did uninstall cuz I was too toxic. But then my football club that has been up for sale since September and had been effectively abandoned by it's owner, and that got raped by the CEO who imposed a Pay Day lender as main sponsor for next season (and was looking like they might even buy it), sold to a bunch of Chinese, who are not pay day lender parasites. And our CEO, the Pieman, announced he's leaving!!! :-) So my stress levels dropped dramatically, and I find I'm now no longer consistently toxic. I still don't play constructively, just yolo, but no worse than most so I reckon it's fair enough again :-) I'm even getting ace tankers again!

edit - I can't possibly derail stuff, I've never had any proper warning points or a ban of any form and the threads hardly ever get closed. Blessed are the wise.

I stopped playing after 6 games today - teams are truly special today even on the WoT scale of "specialness".

1) The market for free games is growing - more fodder for WG virtual battlefields in its current state.

2) Kislyi has also invested $26 million to develop Wargaming’s E-Sports league.

“We must become a conveyor belt for the production of quality games,” Kislyi said by phone from Cyprus. “We are the company that explores big markets. If there are a billion microwave ovens with joysticks and it is possible to play games on them, we will develop the software for them.”

Spoiler
