As for the people considering buying this thing ... well just compare its stats to the closest similar available T8 prem medium - the STA2.

STA2 has 5km slower top speed but gets better p/w and ground resistances

STA2 has way better gun

STA2 has better gun depression (the 9 degrees on T59P is a LIE, it has only 7 degrees to the front and 9 degrees is only to the sides)

STA2 gets 275mm pen HEAT against 250mm pen HEAT T59P gets (which is important as 250 cannot reliably pen front turret of E75/VK45.02 but 275 cuts through it like knife through butter)

only advantages T59P has are 20m higher viewrange, higher velocity on its shells (both standard and gold), and marginally better armor totally negated by that turret tumor which even T3 tanks can penetrate ...

How would you rate it against T-34-3 in terms of price and performance ?

It's around the same. T-34-3 has preferential matchmaking but it's much harder to make work because of its unique playing style.

Imagine 59-Patton as a STA-2 that has better armor and view range but worse gun depression and penetration. The tumor is very weak and can be penetrated by anything but lots of bad players won't even shoot at it and even many good players miss it if you wiggle and don't stand still for too long. Having a tumor like that is an annoyance but it's still much better than the whole tank being one big autopen weak spot which is the case with STA-2.

The 59-Patton is also a little bit faster in practice. It has marginally worse P/W and terrain resistances but it has slightly better traverse and 5km/h higher top speed. One of the annoyances with STA-2 is that its top speed is capped to 45km/h which it easily accelerates to, and a part of its mobility goes to waste. 45km/h top speed is a problem because most mediums(and even some heavies) will get in position faster because they have their top speed capped to 50-60km/h. 50km/h isn't amazing but it makes initial positioning much easier.

59-Patton is a good tier 8 medium. But remember that tier 8 mediums are underpowered and being good in their standards does not mean the tank is great. I'd like the tank but can't really justify buying it right now.

You missed, or just decided to ignore, the fact the 59-Patton also has noticably better gun handling, thanks to it's better aim time and dispersion on the move.

Or maybe he's actually tried driving the tank rather than just base his opinion on what he's heard on the forums.

Your choice, but also your loss. This tank is far from being as bad as a lot of people try and claim it is. (at least imho)

And unlike no doubt most of the posters in this thread I happen to actually OWN a 59-Patton.<.<

The youtube reviews on 59 Patton seems favourable. But I haven't seen a single 59 Patton in the game from yesterday.. It seems the community has a different view from the youtubers / streamers.

That is quite often the case and I think simply down to the fact that most of our major YouTubers and streamers are very good at the game. (Jingles we love you anyway :)) There are many tanks that I am utterly crap in and yet they take them out and get one great game after another. A tank always has to fit your playstyle and skill level to be really good.

I myself haven't put in enough time with the tank to get to grips with it, but I liked what I saw initially.

Not agreeing with QB is no excuse for these personal attacks, especially when he isn't around to defend himself, reported.

what are you talking about. i never said anything bad about QB. report yourself for not understanding basic english.

Edit: The part about him thinking about the sun shines out rear ends is not an insult to him, he generally agrees with almost any tank he plays with (good or bad) that its a good tank. because he is unicum. he can make any tank work. even bad ones like these.

nope, T59P gets 14% better dispersion when moving the hull but 20% WORSE dispersion when rotating the turret - its not as clear cut as you would want it to be.

only thing T-34-3 has going for it is that as limited MM premium it could get the 112 treatment and be significantly buffed when it gets removed from the store.

but as it is its utterly worthless tank

It's still better than most tier 8 mediums.

oh ? only T8 medium worse than that pile of garbage is Revalorise, every single other T8 medium is better than T-34-3 which has mediocre platform with worst gun at the tier... unarmored medium with bad penetration, no gundepression SIX SECOND LONG AIMTIME (aim from full dispersion to max with vents VS, BiA and premium food) and 0.40 accuracy (again with vents BiA and food) ...

that gun is atrociously useless, it barely worked on 112 because it could afford to stay still and aim, but on medium with no armor to speak of ... no just NO ...

"Unarmored"? It has one of the best turrets of the tier even with normal matchmaking tanks counted. The turret is about as strong as that of T-54 which is an entire tier higher. -5 gun depression isn't great but it's definitely workable with a mobile low profile tank with a strong turret. It's the same as what T-54 and T-62A have yet they don't seem to have a problem with it.

You fail with the gun because you stop to aim with it and whine about it taking 6 seconds to aim. When a gun has 0.46 base accuracy and 3.4 seconds aiming time, you do not snipe with it. It has pretty solid bloom values and it hits snap shots reasonably well. With this gun you get fairly close to the enemy, point it at the enemy, derp it into his face and minimize the chance you get shot at. You miss some shots but that's fine. You don't need to hit every shell with 390 alpha damage. The only time when you stop to aim with the gun is when you are confident that you have the time to aim without being shot back at.

175 penetration is meh but with preferential matchmaking it's workable with a few gold rounds. The two most overpowered tanks of the tier(IS-6 and 112) both use the same gun except T-34-3 has better gun handling and it gets to shoot softer targets as it is a medium. IS-6 admittedly has better reload but the gun handling is still worse.

Tier 8 mediums with normal matchmaking are trash because they are utterly useless in tier X games. You can whine about the 175 penetration but 175 penetration with 390 alpha is much better in a tier 9 game than 200 penetration with 240-250 alpha in a tier X game. The preferential matchmaking alone puts T-34-3 pretty high on the list of tier 8 mediums. Obviously it's significantly weaker than IS-6 or 112 but those are heavies.

1. T62 has 280 mm of armor on its turret cheeks, T54 has 220, T-34 -3 has 192 ...

i wouldnt call those turrets equal if i were you ...

2. no it doesnt snapshot at all xD chinese 122 isnt russian 122 and its bloom stats are ATROCIOUS for medium tank ... especially since with the terrible penetration you cant afford to just derp without aiming against T7+ tanks ... what you fail to account for is the speed, it doesnt matter that its dispersion is better than heavy, when you are going above 20 kph in something with 0.18 dispersion, your bloom will be at maximum ... this isnt T62A with 0.10 bloom and 0.33 accuracy ...

3. tanks like CDC and STA2 are capable of handling T10 battles, which is more than can be sayd for 34-3 and its T9 opponents ...

Tony_EU your post made me want to drink bleach the moment you mentioned T-34-3 had turret armor.

go Tanks.gg and look all around that gun mantle. i assure you that turret is garbage, the area around the gun is a 50mm flat piece of gun ring, Type59 turret takes a fat smelly s*** all over it. from the gun mantle to the cupolas. its crap.
