If anyone is interested to try it out i'd be willing to lend a hand for you to take the first steps in the game. Might be well needed with some starting help as the game is quite complex but still interesting I think. I am a social gamer so that is the main reason I am asking. I would require you to use Teamspeak and headset so we can communicate though.

Not saying I am a "pro" EVE player but I do have insight in most of the fields or types of play except maybe plaing in 0.0 security systems.

Tony_EU,

I'm just gonna post a quote from one of the EVE developers here:

Block Quote

CCP Falcon wrote:

EVE is built on the core principle that you are never 100% safe, no matter where you go or what you do. When you interact with another player, you roll the dice on whether they're going to screw you over or not. That's a massive part of the social engineering behind the very basic underpinnings of the EVE Universe.

...and no...I won't screw you over :great:

Strappster,
semi informative and semi funny video there I guess. About the spreadsheets I've actually never felt the need to use them. A lot of other reading of manuals and checking maps on third party website is very common though...

Panzeeeen! Yoyoyo!

You are very welcome...the more the merrier...lets make another try on EVE when it becomes free to play shall we :-P

I also had thoose two trial weeks like you had...like 3 times with about 1 year apart...didnt get anything...

Then one "bittervet" (this is what elite EVE players are called) took me under his wings. He told me very interesting stories and though me about the meta game. The meta game in EVE is huge. Many play EVE without ever starting the client. They just talk on TS, write in forums....read stuff...watch youtube clips...and stuff like that.

Elite also looks interesting I have to say. I only watched videos of it. I find it hard to believe it has more depth then EVE though...

I already do that for this game, not sure I'd want to get into another that's even more of a time sink. I admire what's been done with EVE and really like the anything goes attitude necessary to pull off scams such as the ones described in this Cracked article but grinding away as a rock basher in space simply doesn't appeal.

I finally managed to log into the game. Was a bit finicky.

Yeah Strappster, true that...EVE is a cold and harsh game...a bit like...reality :-o

Anyway its the most advanced sandbox MMO out there...so anyone calling himself a "hardcore gamer" would need to know what it is right? :-P

Anyway...WoT is still the best game...EVE is just for relax, lulz and companionship. (At least the way I play it.)

Well yes and no... WoT I play on a much more competetive note...but still the companionship/social side is important also...and the lulz is also here in WoT naturally...although mostly its the "not-the-lulz" unfortunately also...(like getting irritated on the cowardly monkey players and so on...)

They have a pretty useless recruit a friend program. Especially if you like me intend to stay in free to play mode (alpha clone). Still the new player recieves 250.000 skill points to start with. Maybe not completely useless after all. Message me if you want to use this before creating your account.

Played EVE for a while, but couldn't handle the time investment involved when involved in battles, etc.

If you have the time to put into it then I do recommend it as a complex game that can be a lot of fun.

Thats a common misconception...that you HAVE to play EVE in a certain way. Actually EVE is a sandbox game...so you can play pretty much any way you want.

Naturally...if you join a 0-sec corporation you WILL be forced to play certain amounts of time and also forced to do certain things.

However...if you are in a high-sec corporation that might not be the case at all. In fact...you can even stay in the starter NPC beginner corps.

I guess you can compare it to WoT in this sense. I mean naturally if you join one of the best and biggest clanwars clans you will be expected to put in a certain amount of time and to play CW when you are online.

So its all choices really.

EVE is my second game (WoT is my first) so I really dont play it much in time....but it is there...I can log in and so on...
