How to modify maps?

I want to know how to change/modify the visual appearance of maps. don't know... put some lines/paint on the ground for example. any ideas?

Create backup.

All of maps are located and compressed in .pkg files in /res/packages. I think you can extract them with 7-zip. Then you need to know what the hell are you doing and edit stuff in some program for photo editing as GIMP(I think this would work). Not totally sure.

Last step would be copying the files in res_mods/red/packages/...

 

It should roughly go like that.

 

Also, careful what are you doing, one may think you're trying to create unfair advantage mod. :)

I remember a few years ago a youtuber hosted a race on a desert map. All who entered the races had to download an edited version of the map, with a racetrack marked in the sand-dunes. It was a great way to run such an event.
