My wife went away on Sunday at the end of last week, to work in London.

On my first morning without her, I decided to dispose of the awful porridge I had tried to cook earlier for breakfast by pouring it down the sink.

This immediately resulted in a complete and total blockage of the sink. I returned from work that evening to find the blockage had not cleared itself and I was forced to resort to removing various pipes under the sink. Typically unprepared, the water, porridge, and other unknown sludge gushed out, overflowing the small container I had laid underneath, soaking tea towels and everything else stored under there.

"How is everything at home honey?"

"There was a minor issue in the kitchen but it is resolved now"

"Minor issue?"

"Some porridge got into the sink. I cleared the blockage but created some laundry. There was a small leak after putting it back together but it's ok now I think. I also had to remove everything from the shelf but couldn't fit it all back in so I have stored the extra items under the bathroom sink. The stuff I couldn't fit in there I have left by the back door. The bathroom floor needs washing I will try and do that tonight. Also I can't find one of the cats"

[silence]...."I've only been gone a day"

"Yes I know, I love and miss you"

"I miss you to....."

americans do it, too
but they have a garbage disposal in their sink, soo...
I always laugh at the confused americans that don't realise we don't have that over here and try to push leftovers down the sink x)

I'm pretty good at cooking porridge and I cook it pretty much every day when I'm in the UK. I don't have a wife though but I try to throw bigger food bits into food junk bowl and if sth gets into sink it normally just gets stuck and won't even get into the pipe below the sink, so I just take it and put into food junk bowl (we have one white oven bowl or sth like that on the window as we only have one bin for general junk in the kitchen and would always have to go outside to throw food into recyclable stuff/green bin).
