I heard rumors that WG will totally remove arty as soon as the whining reaches page 100.

Also, the biggest whiners with the most stupid ideas will get a Type 59 from Cynd3r. I think that's a very generous offer.

At least we can build a giant salt mine here rather than multiple little ones :D

I have rarely played arty in my total time playing the game it only really became a class I played to partake in the missions with...but I do like them as i becomes a different game so nice change of pace.

Good, now we will be able to measure which one generates more complaints: SPGs or MM.

I got a replay where with my m46 KR I'm sitting in a bush like the pro do on malinovka. Sixth sense never went off, then I randomly blew up. But it's from a former version and it won't open. How can I open it?

WG can't you just remove artillery and instead give call-ins for LTs such as off-map artillery barrages or airstrikes? These call-ins would require the LT to have line-of-sight on the location where the call-in should be deployed :)

So players interested in the kind of arty-support-gameplay could still do it, but in a LT instead, and they'd need to actively participate at the front and not 800 meters away :great:

I'm glad arty is in the game. It stops me from making stupid mistakes like trying to play.

I posted this on another thread, am posting it here as well.

Artillery, 'the god of war' as 'uncle Joe' said....

Artillery is seriously OP because it is a broken mechanic.
1. Artillery of this era is incapable of hitting a target as small as a tank, let alone one that is moving. Even modern artillery ie post 1st gulf war designs can only hit a target as small as a tank by firing guided shells. The reason is ballistic trajectory and a statistic called CEP (Circular Error Probability), for those who dont know what this is google it! Basically the chance of a ballistically fired projectile hiiting a specific small target (like a tank) is astronomical! This is why artillery is fired in barrages by batteries of guns, in order to saturate a target area.
But hey, this is a game and WG can do whatever they want to the laws of physics. They can add mechas and japanese schoolgirls with swords that can cut a tank in half if they want, and that would be about as realistic as artillery is right now.
2. Consider the development of the tank (it was developed to allow the soft squishy bodies of men to be able to get across no mans land without getting shredded by shrapnel) However tnaks are heavy so designers placed most of the armour at the front and sides and left the tops very thinly protected. Now consider that WG has accurately modelled the real world tanks in glorious digital HD (*cough*mostly*cough*). Now assume for a minute that artillery can be as accurate as this game supposes, in that case tank designers would have made the 'top' armour of tanks thicker, to protect them from direct artillery hits. This in turn would have made tanks too heavy to be viable as a weapon and thus would have never left the drawing board. Oh, lol, WOT?!
But hey, its a game and for gameplay reasons (ie fun and excitment) they made artillery comically accurate. Without considering the consequences or its unbalancing effects.
3. Artillery is not intended to counter tanks, that is what AT guns are for. Artillery fires big, fat HE shells that have a wide area of effect with lots of shrapnel and are totally non-armour piercing. The only effect a HE shell fired by land based SPGs would have on a tank would be external module damage (detracking, jamming the turret, breaking the view ports etc and possibly causing crew injuries by stunning them). Artillery should not be causing hit point damage or intenal module damage to fully enclosed and armoured vehicles.
But hey, its a game and for gamplay reasons they made artillery OP and unbalanced.

But you keep on making stupid mistakes. You keep playing. SPGs keep shooting you. Don't blame me. You said it yourself!

So you reckon other aspects of the game are accurate, or not?

I've sold all my arty so I'll just drop in to this thread now and again.

But well done Cynd3r. Hopefully it will thin out the rest of the forum. We know people didn't use the SPG area.
