So the Russian Server got a new feature "Trade-In" where players are allowed to exchange their Premium Tanks for another one.

The trade is limited to certain Premium Tanks from Tier VI to VIII, with a very important detail: you can only trade for a Premium Tank of equal or lower Tier.

The tank selected for trade in will be worth half of it’s Gold price. For example the player wants to buy a T-54 First Prototype, it will cost him 8,750 Gold. But if he trades in a Panther 8.8 he will get a discount of 3,650 Gold and will have to pay the difference of 5,100 Gold.

The following tanks can be bought using the Trade-In system:

Tier VI

  • Dicker Max
  • Type 64
  • Heavy Tank No. VI
  • Škoda T 40
  • Strv m/42-57 Alt A.2
  • SU-100Y

Tier VII

  • AT 15A
  • SU-122-44

Tier VIII

  • Löwe
  • T26E4 SuperPershing
  • FCM 50 t
  • T-34-3
  • IS-6
  • T34
  • Panther mit 8,8 cm L/71
  • AMX Chasseur de chars
  • STA-2
  • Т-54 1st prot
  • M4A1 Revalorisé
  • FV4202 (P)

What you guys think about this? Would you want this feature for the EU Server? Would you change something? I personally would change the "trade off"... Instead of 50% players should be able to just pay the difference plus a fee, for example 500 Gold for Tier VI, 750 for Tier VII and 1000 Gold for Tier VIII. I believe these "micro transactions" would bring more players to actually trade in the tanks they don't want, rather them pay a large amount of gold. Yes, I know getting a Tier VIII with 50% discount is really good, but you have to consider players are selling their Tier VIII to get a new one. This means if they still have to pay for example 5000 Gold for a new Tier VIII they want, they might just keep the one they already own...

Spoiler

We all know tank for tank with a fee would be more fair and nice, but we also all know WG...

One question just to be sure - since we know WG, I do not suppose is it possible to trade in more than one vehicle, right? Of course I do not suppose WG would pay you gold if price of trade in tank would excess price of new vehicle, but it would be really nice to get rid of for example 3 vehicles you will never use to get one you really want either "free" or very cheap

Regardless of this it is quite nice feature and I really hope it will make it to EU server also :)

Would definitely be nice, especially if I could exchange multiple lower tier premium tanks for one higher tier.

Trade in is a great idea

Plenty of people complaining on the forum about prem tanks they don't like, or that do not perform so well as they did when first purchased

I can see a use for the performance obsessed grinding up the lines ASAP, maybe on a reroll, they may start needing a prem light, then don't need that anymore as they grind up and need a prem medium, to end up with tier 10 hvy and needing a prem hvy to train them and no use anymore for the medium. And as mentioned above some people abandon low tiers in general anyway. If it's about optimising performance and / or rationalising, it's a good way to get most out of what you've invested.

But as for just trading for new tanks, it's too much of a loss to be worth it (as a former collector seems counter productive to me), which I guess is how it needs to be or it would harm WG's revenue too much.

As a collector, cannot see it being much good to me. but at the same time it would appeal to some even though it is just another cash grab.

It's a welcome change. Many of us have a premium we regret buying or one that has already served its purpose. For me these tanks are Skoda T40(just awful for me), CDC(Ravioli is much better and more fun) and possibly IS-6. Not because it's bad but because I barely play it anymore as I have a KV-5 for Russian heavies which I much prefer. I might however buy a -50% discounted IS-6B and then cash in my IS-6 for 50% discount of Löwe or something.

As much as it pains me, with the recent buffs of 112 and WZ-111 a lot of players will probably cash in their T-34-3 because it's just completely obsolete right now.

I give up one of my premium tanks for another?  I'd rather have both, thanks all the same.

No, you can only trade 1on1, so if you want to buy a Tier VIII, you can trade in a Tier VI, VII or VIII and get the respective gold discount. You can't "add up" several premiums and get the new one (same tier) even cheaper or for free. You can get a lower tier for free, if you trade for example a Panther 8.8 you would get 3,650 Gold, you could buy a Type 64 for 3500 Gold. This leaves one question? Would the player be refunded that extra 150 that remains?

Edit

Scrap that, completely forgot you can't trade a Tier VIII for a Tier VI. Sorry!

I think it would be nice to have the trade feature on EU also. I am very much looking forward to it because there are always some premium vehicles which we later found out we are not good with or doesn't suit us and we don't like playing them anymore so it would be nice if I can sell any and get the other one. But yes 50% is a slight too much. It would be better if we get better when selling premiums because at this pricing not many will like to trade but if better deal as Harkonnen has suggested so yeah very much up for it.

Can you change in every premium tank? Even Mutz, Schwarzpanzer, IS6B and T44-100? Can you Undo the "selling" of the tank? Will it work if there is a -15% Special on Tier 8 Premiums and stack with it?

Quite logical. After you have bought the tank it has no "money value" for the WG any more. They want you to pay again for another tank.

An option to trade "pixels" for 50% of real money is a wonder if you ask me. From their perspective you are getting a 50% discount on T8 tank (and you will not see that very often)

Asking to trade "for free" means no money for them, so yeah....

I didnt plan to buy more premium tanks because I have more than enough of them to farm credits, but with this trading stuff, i would definitely switch some of my rarely used ones for something interesting. So please Wargaming, bring this to EU as well!

Sounds like a win for both players and WG.  My guess is that they are trying it out in RU and if it works then we will get it in EU later this year.

To the poster who asked if a player trading high for low would have the excess gold returned, I can only say that pigs might fly.

If this were to happen i would trade in my DickerMax so fast they pixels would never know what hit them but i doubt WG would make it worth while.

I would take advantage of this feature. I have premiums gathering dust which i could do without, eg Superpershing, and i could do with crew trainers for Sweden and Chekoslovakia. i likee!!

Really poor deal, IMHO. Of course, as a collector I wouldn't want to trade in anything, but at a 50% penalty it is borderline robbery.
