I wanted to post this, because it seems like some people could use this advice.

Respect means something more defined to me. respect can mean many things. For me and for many respect must be earned it is not the same as being courteous or polite or treating others as you would be treated( common decency)

and no we are not all equals.. we are indeed NOT! not everyone deserves respect.( fil this box with pedophiles, rapists, klu klux members or whatever you feel is applicable)if you believe this guys opinion on the fundamental core of this video then you are a gender nuetral lefty liberal purple haired mengatoid!

respect my opinion?

I get what you saying, I was also wondering about "respect" he was talking about. And as he said later, he (and me) only care about your actions, they define who you are.

And about that equal part, puzzled me too, but then I thought he might be talking about ideal () world.

I believe what he meant with "respect", is that every (moral) human being deserves dignity.

Generally speaking there are two types of respect. That given to a superior, whether that's because of their rank, their position (e.g. a company manager or supervisor), their being an authority or expert in a particular area, etc. and the respect afforded to another person simply because you recognise that they're a person.

A lot of people say, "if you respect me, I'll respect you". The problem is that quite often what they mean is that if you recognise them as an authority, they'll treat you as a person.
