Hello community!

I'm here to ask some advices regarding the next purchase I'm going to do for my gaming machine.

First of all, this is my current configuration:

i5-6600

8gb ram ddr4 2133 mhz
Asus H170 pro 4s

Rx 280x Toxxic 3Gb Gddr5

Now I'm planning to get a brand new Rx 480 8 Gb plus a 122/144 Hz monitor (this one to be specific https://www.amazon.c...4K57YVDVTB9VCKS ). The question is, will I be able to go over 60 fps consistently with these changes? I'd love to see how a monitor like this works and how WoT would appear at such a frequence.

Thanks to everyone in advance!

I'd wager an RX 480 should go over 60fps at all times, but I'm not sure if the bump from 280X to RX 480 is a large enough bump to actually justify it. The rule of thumb is you should jump at least three or four tiers higher so you actually see the performance increase you're getting. If you'd go for something like a GTX 1070 the difference would be far greater and you'd probably get close or even over 100fps at all times in wot, and with a 144Hz monitor you could actually benefit from that fps.

You will definately see an increase in graphics performance,

but the change won't be very big. At least you can sell your used 280x for still a good price.

** RX 480 got significantly higher texture- and pixel fill rates.

I'd add another 8GB of RAM. 16GB is well worth it.

my system is an old i7-2600k with 8GB DDR3 RAM and an RX 480 and wot runs mostly between 90 and ~ 120 fps with all settings cranked up @ 1080p with 72Hz Monitor refresh.

Thank you both for the answers guys! :)

Yeah a GTX 1070 would be a nice one too, hadn't considered it yesterday! Yeah actually I was considering increasing the amount of ram memory as well, the more the better (isn't what they say?ahah).

RX 480 is much better than the R9 280X so you will see quite a big jump in performance and you will definitevly always have a stable 60+ fps in WoT

Wow mate is that Doom?:O
Anyways yeah, I' ve looked on gpuboss, and actually sapphire rx480 8gb is almost at the same level of a 1070 with 8 gb :O
Considering I will not be going over 1080p, guess it is the best choice indeed :)

Thank you all fellow tankers!

PS. if anyone wants to add me to play some games together, feel free to do it!
