Thought I'd start a new line.

PZ II was nice when I got used to it and performed quite well.

Then I tried this thing. Er not so good and that's being nice I think.

Gun is a real mess. Cant penetrate anything. Aim time is SOOOOOOOO long even with a GLD. Well actually its the dispersion that's the issue. Even tried HE and had fun dealing 6 damage to a BT-7. Did manage 24 damage to a PZ 1C though. Hooray!!!.

Any tips from playing this thing other than skipping by it?

Well. What a poor tank this is. Just been out traded by a Tier 2 M2.

I like the mobility but gun handling is borderline Arty level.

i quite liked this one and i played it with a bad crew. best way to play this tank is as a wolfpack medium never fight people 1v1 and dont be the center of attention your tank is paper. focus on distracted targets and flank.

dont go to flank alone if no one is joining you its best to turn around and go where the team is, i would describe this tank as a support flanker.

Getting better results being very passive aka AMX 12t style.

I quite like it - with a decent crew it's quite a good passive scout, and the gun ain't that bad - it's no sniper but it's fun at the end of the game for circling damaged higher tier tanks.

But then I quite like being the underdog :)

I'm afraid, no. It's just bad tank.

You should've seen me when I first played it, it was when I was still completely new and clueless, and meeting tier 5s in this tank with crap crew and no equipment is hilarious. I still have brain damage from that experience.

I occasionally toy with the idea of rebuying it again and throwing serious credits at it for crews/equipment/skill ammo, and tryhard a little to improve terrible stats I left it in, and possibly ace it (I believe I didn't manage to do that).

Not a bad tank at all sir - just needs a little love.

And a decent crew......;)

I like mine, it's fast with a fast firing gun. 70 pen is ok at tier III, but you do have to think about what you are shooting at: you're not going to pen a Matilda with it that's for sure, but it's a light tank, so you use your mobility to get around your enemy. and with a decent angle the armour can bounce some of the stuff that flies your way, which is all you can ask of a light tank, really (unless it's an AMX40!).

A half decent crew is essential, and I can see it getting better the more I work on the crew. My crew is at 60% on its first skill (4 camo + situational awareness) and I run with vents, binoculars and camo net. This gives me 334m view range  when moving, 418m with binos, which is acceptable at tier III. Some might be tempted to drop vents for a gun laying drive, but aim time only drops from 2.16s to 2.01s and you lose little bits everywhere else. I'd love to see what this tank is like with BiA and a 3 skill crew.

I use mine as a scout as much as possible and it works well that way with this setup.

I don't really have any other recent tier 3 experience to compare with but having a lot of fun with the Pz III E.

Averaging 500+ damage a match since rebuying, fast, lot of dpm, good gun depression. Gun not so accurate but otherwise no complaints. Only got a 75% crew in it but great fun, would be a terror with a good crew.

Counters the better known sealclubber Pz I C hard, right angle you can bounce a whole clip and kill them in 6-7 seconds.

It's a monster at tier 3, especially now you don't meet tier 5 anymore. Has dpm, alpha, speed and mobility. Gun is a bit derpy, but a miss here and there isn't and issue most of the time because of the rof. The dispersion is bad because of the speed. For me the trick is to aim just for a moment after coming to a full stop and then fire at the target (semi snapshot). By the time you are reloaded you are about fully aimed and more often than not already hit the enemy once.

PzIIIE - absolutely one of the best tanks in T3.

I really like it, I'm not a remotely skilled player by any means and don't really care anyway, but it's a historical tank and you can have really good games in it, it's nicely balanced with ok'ish abilities, not great but fun to play.

I'm not enjoying playing this tank in the slightest.  I wholeheartedly agree the gun handling is beyond dreadful.  Using highly skilled crews (for T3), a full equipment load out, and employing tactics to avoid a straight forward trading fight is good advice to make play in any tank more successful - but if this tank absolutely depends on those things to work, it would suggest me it is definitely sub par.

Not every tank is for everybody. And even the quirkiest have their fans. But if you want to make it work some stuff:

If aiming is hard dont do it. Get close enough to nullify gunstats and circle lone enemies (use the mobility). Or from a safe position just keep firing. Laws of propability together with the rof ensures a hit here and there despite gun handling and 70 alpha is something that hurts.

Straight forward trading fight works with which tier 3? Rhetoric.

A full equipment loadout for tier 3 lights is vents, maybe binos and camonet (i like pronouncing this as if it was a french word..) if you have them is all that is needed.

Dont use a lower than 75% crew and you are set.

I have recently rebought the tank and it rocks. Of course it is not OP like Pz IC or Pz IIJ, but it is fun. Fast, great camo, nice view range and quickly firing gun. Even the armor can bounce a few shots. The gun handling is o.k., if it is any better, the tank would really be OP.

I played this tank with 15mm armor and +4 matchmaking

Later with 14mm armor with +2 matchmaking

And now it had 30mm armor all arround, invulnerable to Pz1c and machineguns, with only +1 matchmaking???

This NEW tank is all i wanted for my early WOT years =( but i cant play it anymore so much battles on it.

The MKE tier2 premium its like a Stock panzerIIIa… on tier2 not 3, so imagine what hard it was.

Low tiers arent that hard as they were… dont blame this NEW panzerIIIe.

BTW: panzerIII-J tier 4 has now 30mm turret only, so near the same as the tier3, wg removed the 57mm armor turret absurdly.

The III-J has a very, very tasty gun mantlet though (if you use the 5 cm gun). :great:

Dont lie, the PanzerIII tier 4 got nerfed the turret FRONT ARMOR from 57mm and 50mm mantlet (+20mm if you use the small guns)

To an absurd 30mm front armor turret, using the 75mm gaves you same armor as the tier3.

And the 5cm L60 gun uses "LONG AMMO SHELLS" longer than the 5cm L42 ones, but WG created the 5cm L60L only for the tier 5+ scouts.

Absurd.

One of the best tier 3 lights!! Use the terrific 10 degree gun depression with the 5cm and learn the maps where it works best. BIA, optics and rammer. mobility lets you move rapidly between locations. Carry a good load of apcr for tier 4 tanks. Auto aim and circle those with strong armour.
