It's a slow turreted and very effective TD.

If you can make it near to the battlefield, yes. On larger maps, by the time you get to where the action is, it's moved on to somewhere else. You also have to commit to where you're going to go due to the slow speed, so if you pick incorrectly you might see no tanks the whole battle.

A speed-buffed Matilda would be a bit odd.  Matildas were rather slow.

Maybe we could lobby for a new premium: a Cromwell with a Matilda turret?

I'm talking about adding 4kph or something, not Cromwell-like speeds. Honestly I'd be happy with that, and the ability to add 5% oil. And as others have mentioned, the uphill speed is a killer. I've only ever reached the 22kph top speed downhill. Even on a flat road-like surface you mostly hit 18kph. Hit a slight hill: 8kph.

It's just not practical at the moment. I still play it though, but it takes me many matches to get a win.

Without a speed buff it seems pointless to do that: I rarely use up all my ammo as there's no-one left to shoot when I eventually get there.

It's not. You can really feel that ammo shortage when things heat up.

Regarding its speed, the thing gets larger turret on original hull, so no wonder hp/ton will suck. Maybe only give it +2 kph speed to put it in line with regular matilda.

I have camo and binos on mine and just trundle along to a bush and use it as a turreted TD with some ability to push in mid/late game.  That rapid-fire gun with 180 pen will quickly whittle away any opponent, and with pref MM it sees nothing higher than Tier 6.  If I can get 60% wins in it then it can't be that bad.  One of the very few tanks in which I have actually run out of ammo.

I'm not saying you perhaps do great in it, but overall I just see them crawl around some until they die. I have in fact killed 4 of them tonight and the highest damage anyone of them managed to do was 156, so my view of the tank overall is bad, kinda like how I view the Excelsior.

I got a "free" Matilda BP in a promotion a while back.  It is the only premium tank I have ever sold.

It can still do job (XP & Credits) very nicely indeed and is still one of my favourite tier 5 prem tanks. But given that mobility is purely a balancing factor now they could easily buff the terrain resistances just to help you get around a little better. You keep the historical configuration (not that it really matters in WOT) but you get a hidden hp/ton buff. I don't think that makes it OP, just more comfortable to play.

One of my first bought premiums was a Matilda4 which i got with some gold from CW, sold it after several weeks. Got MatildaBP on valentines day when it was a bonus for buying  30 day premium time. Sold it as soon its price returned to normal. If you want a tier 5 premium go for Chi-nu-kai or PzT25.

except the BP turret is lighter then the standard matilda turret.

I have it an agree with you that it needs changes but it is its mostly fine. What needs to change is:

>Increase the ammo capacity

>Slight buff the aiming speed so it no longer fires faster than it aims

>FIX THE DAM WEIGHT!

The A27 turret is lighter than the Matilda II turret it also has a wider turret ring requiring a portion of the hull to be removed to install a larger turret ring.

Yet the Matilda BP is somehow HEAVIER?

The Matilda hull stripped of modules weighs 20,373 kg where as the BP hull(the same hull) stripped of modules weights 24,220 kg
The A27 turret and 6 pdr also weigh 775kg less than the MK IIA* turret with the 2 pdr gun

This means the Matilda BP is 4622 kg heavier than it should be! How do you accidentally add 4.6 tonnes?

I've contacted WG before about this inaccuracy multiple times but they don't care what so ever which is disappointing for a game that "cares about its community".

Is it really? The thing is much smaller, how much thicker would it have to be to actually be heavier?

WG has made few blunders with the numbers in the past, they're not without fault, so is your statement based on real life numbers or the ingame ones?

I played a lot Matilda BP before I got higher tier premiums. It's mostly fine, specially againts noobs who shoot the hull instead of turret.
