Greetings all tankers! I hope you are enjoying this latest patch as much as I am! :)

I have tried to reach Wargaming and YouTube many times in order to get this sorted out, but so far no success.

It would take too long to give you guys the whole version so I'll try to keep it as short as I can. I just feel that this information has to get out there.

I run along with my friend Zwhatsh the YouTube channel "AwesomeEpicGuys".

Link: https://www.youtube....awesomeepicguys

Some time ago we got an E-mail from a Russian subscriber telling us that the channel "Jove"

Link: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheJoves Had stolen content from one of our videos.

Screenshot: http://imgur.com/8lW44Cp

About 50 seconds from our video "Another day in world of tanks 14" had been re-used in his video.

Time stamps: 0:29 to 1:08 AND 6:31 to 6:59

That content has been re-used in this video. The content they have stolen is from 8:32 to 9:22.

To some this might not be such a big deal. But the fact that they are among, if not the biggest WoT YouTube channel in the world made it even worse. These guys make plenty of money out of this. And they straight up steal content from smaller channels. They did not attempt to credit us in the video. Neither had they tried to contact us about permission to use our content. They didn't make parody of our content or edit any of the videos more than adding a super Mario sound effect to one of the clips.

We did the what we thought was right and sent a copyright claim on the video. We filled the form and the time stamps where they had stolen content. A few days went by and eventually YouTube blocked their video. Problem solved. We thought.

Later we got an e-mail from Jove's network with a threat to have us release back their video or our entire channel would be deleted. As we got this e-mail we also received 12 e-mails from YouTube telling us our videos had been blocked worldwide. Our top 12 viewed videos had been claimed by "Wargaming_VSP_Managed"

The network claims in an e-mail that they have all the rights to all World of tanks, World of Warplanes and World of Warships content and may use others videos without permission.

The whole e-mail conversation can be found here: https://www.dropbox....sation.rar?dl=0

All the videos they claimed can be viewed here: https://www.dropbox....videos.rar?dl=0

(You will need a rar software to open the files)

We tried to get into contact with Wargaming and YouTube but received nothing but auto generated replies that led nowhere.

As we were under threat to have our entire channel removed we didn't have much choice but to give them their video back. After some e-mails back and forth we got our 12 videos back as well. So now we are back where we started.

I wanted to create this post to first of all warn all you people who make WOT videos on YouTube regardless if you have a big channel or just create content for fun. I made some research and this is a common problem among wot youtubers. They are having their videos claimed by networks without any explanation really. How can they even have been given the power to do so?

What could we have done different? Or is it still any point to fight this? I have no idea if they have stolen more content from us or from any other smaller channel for that matter. They simply make too much content for us to check it all.

The way I see this. As we are a small channel and they are a big channel. They can do whatever they want.

We have also talked about this in our latest podcast video that you can find here:

I hope this will get sorted out. But I'm afraid it wont. Be careful out there! :sceptic:

We are trying to get the word out. And as the gameplay section is the most visited one we decided to post it here. I am terribly sorry for letting you think this was about gameplay.

Not that it necessarily helps you here, but there is a site I recommend for anyone who wants to take some measures to protect their intellectual property:

I'd want to know what/who Wargaming_vsp_managed was. Because that makes it sound like it's wargaming themselves. If it is WG why aren't they declaring Jove as the official tubing site for WG?

Never seen your videos but he content in question looks like it's been lifted from a thousand other WoT videos (particularly that later derp part ~9.08)

plus you need to be careful with copyright in different regimes and different exemptions.

They only used two separate sub 40 second clips, less than 10% of your video.

Maybe be more careful before throwing around copyright strikes TBH.

You could for example, have just asked them to give you a credit/link/shout out.

Interesting, this is not the first

There is a web page (in Russian) with information on Wargaming Network, a partnership program between Wargaming and an advertising network called VSP Group.

https://worldoftanks.ru/ru/content/docs/youtubepartner/

Someone with knowledge of Russian and copyright law might be able to explain what's going on, and if they really can legally claim a right to lift off any content related to WG games or not. Edit: to me it seems to be a monetization program for youtube videos.

Basically, it tells the following:
WG has  a partner program with some advertisement network in Russia. Any user can have their channel added to the program. Basically, users create the content and the company takes care of everything else, from maximizing the monetization to, apparently, conflict resolution in the best traditions of corporate world.

I'd say, that you need to ask advice from the the community team.

I've had issues with Wargaming VSP as well in the past claiming copyright on my videos, they are very annoying but if you dispute the claim generally they will drop it.

I don't know what is wrong with wg lately but they are going down on the wrong route. Making op prems, sh*t*ng on the game balance and what not. It's sad to see that you guys got hammered too, I love your content, keep it up :)
