I have seen a lot of people arguing that scouting is dead now and that mediums can out scout lights. Well I disagree with this as you can clearly see in this replay I managed to do some good scouting and significantly help my team to a win. Therefore i think scouting is still viable but I have to say you need the corrects maps for it but when you get them scouting is still certainly possible.

13 90 is IMO still the best passive and active scout around. Even in 9.18. Only difference is that the new gun makes it more versatile.

Yet it has lowest view range compared to EVERY other tier 9 scout. I fail to see how its still "best" and let not mention it "was" best before? Did i miss something?

Personally I don't care that much how well the new tier 9 lights do. When they were tier 8, their point was, being the top tier lights around. They were the very best of their role class.

Now tier 9 lights are just the step needed to get tier 10 lights. Besides getting to tier 10, I don't think there's that much point in playing tier 9 lights.

Still, some changes I like, like the AMX 13 90, with smaller clip, its much more convinient to fire few shots and then take a reload. With old bigger clip, you didn't want to make bad shots, which is not pleasant. And for spotting, well the ones with good crews, optics and vents, hardly I notice anything different. I won't buy new camos for these tier 9 lights as I don't think I will keep any of them.

On paper, I think I would like Russian tier 10 light the most, unfortunately it's the one furthest away for me, because I had fresh tier 8 light on the Russian three as I loved the LTTB so much I did not advance to tier 8 before these changes were annouced.

The game overall changed much more, than just these few lights, the new MM, and the implications of patch 9.18, with so much more lights being played than usual, also maybe more SPGs as well, and their mechanics change with stuff and stuff like that.

That yours don't have enough view range is not my issue. Mine has 445m with optics. Considering max spotting range is 445m, I can't complain. Then again having one of the best camo values of it's tier helps more. As my 13 90 don't get spotted active spotting or passive spotting as easy as my 3 other tier 9 lights have. Heck I've emptied clips at close range without getting spotted. That's why it's better IMO... again.. IMO. What floats your boat is up to you. I still would take this over the other tier 9's for LT missions any day for my style.

Sure my T49 has 480m view range on the move, but again... I prefer the 13 90 as I value camo more then view range. As long as it's 445m or higher. I'm good. If I'm gonna sneak up the 1 line on Prokhorovka late game spotting a TD I know is 200m up behind 5 lairs of bushes so my support can hit it. Then I need camo, not 500m view range. Thus for my style. 13 90 is still king. As I've played nothing but tier 9 LT's this patch more or less.

One needs bia, sitsuational awareness, recon and optics to have 450vr. Food will boost that up even further. It has bad vr period, but i use amx 13 90 as a harasser/damage dealer first scout second.

I moved my 6th round crew from cdc to amx 13 90 and its blast to play. I needed nimble autoloader anyway now that wg ruined my beloved bulldog.

yeah the bulldogs auto loader got destroyed but the single shot gun at least is decent.

Yeah the 13 90 in this patch is soooooo much more fun to play with the clip being able to deal 960 average DMG with around a 22 second reload is awesome with a lot more pen than last patch with apcr as standard. Also I'm going for the tier 10 Russian light first too. By the way I have all lights at tier 9 accept the wz-132A and my fave as of now is the AMX 13 90 but the T49 is also awesome.

The question is not that, "can sometimes LTs scout?", but "can LTs regurlary and reliable scout?".

Well, from what you writen you claim that second worse scout was better the that rock bottom terrible T49. So basically you are correct, but still wront.

AMX has bad view range which negates any camo advantage it could have had. As it is after the changes it seems that for tier 8 Chinese and for tier X Chinese and German are significantly better then the rest. AMX is as it was - not that good. Although this change is a buff, being a normal tier 9 tonk is better then a terrible tier 8 passive socut.

Speaking for my 13-90 and so not everyone's experience of the tank. (91% 6th skill)

On the whole its been buffed, With its reload down to a shade under 22 seconds the 4 shot cassette works. not convinced its better just different. In that it trades punch for versatility. Though can be annoying as 'muscle memory' keeps telling me I have 2 rounds left at critical moments

The engine power buff. I really didn't appreciate its effect until I played it and it really does make a big improvement.

The gun handling is better making it possible to hit targets you wouldn't try for previously and firing on the move is much better than before.

The better pen is..better pen.

Scouting.

The 380m base view range I still consider a crime. (459m for me: crew skills + optics + vents, no food)

However that engine power boost means you can use your camo to get places you just couldn't reach before due to not getting there in time to avoid being seen. It can still do well on classic scouting maps but is now more versatile in town.
