Hello all,

without a preamble, please allow me to clarify one thing which seems to be in the center of all discussions and which is extremely important to me as Head of Community and to Wargaming!

We at Wargaming never claimed and will never pursue a copyright strike on public available or given content based on criticism, negative reviews of content, opinions on content etc. as long as I am having responsibility for community management in Europe. The only exception can be content provided under conditions of an NDA.

You must really be (EDITED) or ignorant if you post this after there was conclusive evidence what Ph3lan did...

And apparently you do not understand what Copyright rights are, his "props" are owned by Wargaming, he get's to use them only with their permissions (as do you, check the EULA), but otherwise see comment above about "transformative" nature of you tube.

You are the one who doesn't understand Copyright Law, and you don't seem to understand Fair Use and how commentary and reviews on YouTube work. You can keep repeating yourself in this thread until the cows come home but it wont make you informed or correct.

Which for the hard of reading means no-one ever threatened Foch with a copy right take down. so at least 60% of this thread is off-topic  :P

Edit: Whoops, just actually looked at the screenies posted on reddit, looks like Ph3lan misspoke.

Of course copyright is not the only mechanism for challenging video content.

It's Friday. Why are people so upset. I'd get it if it was a Monday, but not Friday

Saying that won't help anything in this thread... all the more reason to close it.

Closing it now would only make the outrage even more profound. The ship has sailed for WG getting out of this one without taking damage, but nobody told that to Njial.

Unfortunately the likely outcome is that Ph3lan is thrown under the buss, WG issues an apology and the next OP prem and the next PR shitstorm will just happen due to the very same reasons.

A good and competent Boss would have appologized for that desaster. But not killing the reputation of one of his employees totally. Sorry, but that is very bad business and I guess now, I know why WG Paris has such big problems.

And in the future, can we trust what officials here in the forum are writing? Or do we always have to wait for an "official" statement from the top management?

Doesn't say they wouldn't threaten, just that they'd not carry out the treat.

Is there a bandwagon that Jim Sterling won't jump on to get more views? He's never really come to terms with Yahtzee being the popular one, has he.

Alright, from a PR standpoint the Community Managers are dog crap. The situation arose because of problems with the armor profile, and Foch took the language too far for the Community Contributor status to be continued. That's fine, but once you move to threatening a high profile person with copyright infringement, you've taken a step too far. You already have created a history of allowing in game content to be given out on youtube. You've enlisted the help of others, and encouraged game play to be shown. You have no ability to threaten copyright infringement at that point. You've essentially changed your original operating procedure to censor any negative feedback you can potentially find. I have previously on multiple occasions told you community managers you're crap at your job, and this proves it. To be honest, Foch should have allowed you to strike his video and then proceeded to sue you under EU law. He made a grave mistake in allowing you to bully him. {edited to add: you would have settled.}

I sincerely hope you're all fired, and replaced with competent people. On my part, I will give this incident to every video game reporter in the western hemisphere.

Sincerely,
OFAC.

*Bump*
What was that noise? It was the sound of Ph3lan being thrown under the bus, as If Wargaming didn't claim to pursue the Copyright Strike, and he did then he is in trouble...

Yep big issue for a few hundred people, not really a big issue is it? You're ok with someone losing their job because of this because I wouldn't be even if I don't agree with what he said. Some streamer got salty, some WG employee got salty, playground stuff, let them kiss and make up and then we can go back to the important stuff of getting rid of clickers. Seems to me people are just trying to whip up a storm because they need to feel involved somehow.

The 'some guy losing job' is solely responsible for handling of the 'few hundred people' that according to you this problem touched. So yes, he should be saked if what he did is not in line with the company standard. supposedly...
