dear WG after the recent outrageous terrorist act in the city of manchester where a suicide bomber detonated a bomb killing 22 people and injuring 50 more including an 8 YEAR OLD GIRL which has been claimed by the terrorist organisation calling itself ISIS i came across the player _ISSIS_

now i and everyone in clan KTTP find this offensive and disgusting that a player who uses your product can get away with this ingame name, this tarnishes this great game and needs to be removed

im sure all at WG would not like to be linked to some nobhead who chooses this dirty disgusting and offensive in game name
 
now i just sent a ticket into WG to ask that this disgusting name be removed as its one letter shy of been the same as the scumbags who think its ok to kill innocent young people

Nah, there are worse nicknames than that, like USSR, for example. There is a whole clan called USSR, so there you go.

Should be banned twice, if you ask me, after all it does contain the no-no "SS" in the name as well.

To be fair, 'Isis' was an Egyptian goddess for a heck of a long time before those extremist mentalists were given the name.

 

I have to say though - If I'd chosen that name before the organisation came to infamy, I'd be inclined to change it, because if nothing else it would attract a lot of shells your way.

On the whole offence comes down to circumstance.  Lost my wife to cancer. Cannot even begin to understand conflating a game with something that changed my life for ever.  I do understand most people do not make the connection in their search for hyperbole.  Most other things I can take or leave.  

 

I think in times past, people said a lot of things to be offensive and that society has to attempt to teach people how to deliver their message in a more "constructive" manner.  I believe as we move out of this politically correct era.  language will again morph to be more loose (yes loose not lose).

 

@ hassender.  conflating feminism with sensitivity is part of the issue.  Your archaic way of thinking needs to change.  Women are no more or less sensitive than men.  I assume you will now claim I am offended. I'm not.  i just think you are ignorant.  And ignorant people will never change.

Trying to be a little bit edgy to shock people is a part of growing up. The problem comes when it falls short of maturity and the emotionally stunted naughty little boy gets locked into an adults body. But it's just life, it takes all sorts, some defend freedom of speech for the right reasons, and some confuse it with the freedom to offend. So OP use the ingame reporting system if you see a naughty name and move on, that person is always going to look like a [edited]head to the majority of others anyway.

Well. If the name was "_ISIS_terror_" or something, that would indeed offending.
As people already stated, the name of that loser organization also refers to other things. E.g., I have a tailor shop nearby that is named ISIS.

Anyway, you sent in a ticket, so simply wait for the answer.

As an actual Mancunian by home and birth I would like to point out that I am not personally offended by this nickname nor are the thousands of other Mancs who have never heard of World of Tanks. No storms in teacups please.

I also lost my father to cancer, and while the term in game is unwholesome I am also adult enough to realise that most of the people using it have no idea of the finer connotations or implications of the term.

I am also not offend by anyone one who wants to Cee U Next Tuesday.

 

Happy tonking (or is this offensive as its a euphemism for intercourse?)
