I play the Jagdpanzer E100 a lot, and with the 1050 alpha you would think it would get a lot of ammo racks on things you are shooting, but no.

As someone who is interested in tanks and has played waaay to many games i know where all their ammoracks are and i always try to hit them (left hand lower side of the front of a T54 hull for example.) Earlier i was playing the JGpze100 and was aiming especially for ammo racks and i did not even get a yellow crit in the 15 or so games I played when the shells I was firing were clearly going through the area in which the ammo rack module is located.

Is the ammo rack damage and detonation just completely random? Because if a 1050 dmg shell goes through an ammorack with 250-400 module heath surely it should detonate?

Anyone know how this mystery mechanic works?

If you hit ammo rack of enemy.

Your shell has a 27% chance of dealing damage to ammo rack.

Only 27%? that seems a bit low

I literally gave you the wiki link for *all* the information you are lacking. It is indeed 27% but if you can't use hyperlinks yet then I'm not sure how much hope there is for you anyway.

In all fairness, talk about leading a horse to water.....

It is remarkable how these special cases have no clue how to use search options (be that Google or forum), or links, yet have no troubles creating threads for every little thing that pops in their heads...

Asking other people in a forum to discuss about what like-minded people think is not his mistake. That is the purpose of a forum. He doesn't know, so he asks. Sure, he should/could take the initiative and do his own research, wouldn't hurt. But part of that consists in asking questions, there's even a famous quote for that.

While others who make faulty assumptions or don't bother at all looking for a plausible solution/answer. I think that puts him a cut above those players.

Asking questions is fine and all, but asking those questions for which the person in question could spend as little as 1 or 2 minutes to find the answer really shouldn't be encouraged.

As this is not asking like-minded people to discuss anything. This is a question for which the answer could easily be found by investing just a tiny bit of time doing a search, probably even less time than creating this thread. But at least there were no accusations of hacks, cheats, etc, so there's that I suppose...

He spent less than minute creating his post.  Your point is moot.

How would you know? You were standing behind him when he was typing it and measuring time with a stopwatch? Please, go away. Go annoy someone else with your stupidity.

Further to the already mentioned 27% chance, your JP E100 does 228 average module damage, the T54 you mentioned has an ammo rack with 200 health.  So you could destroy his ammo rack easily with one shot, or you could roll as low as 171 and just leave it damaged.  A T110E5 has 260 ammo rack health meaning you need to get a high roll to one shot it.  And that's without wet ammo rack or safe stowage coming into play which both increase the ammo rack hitpoints.

This! The shell deals module damage +/-25%, generally the bigger the caliber the bigger the damage.
You can increase those 27% to 30% by training Deadeye perk on your gunner.

its 27% unless you are in a British medium and the enemy are shooting at you, then they have 100% chance to damage your ammo rack
