I think that the new players should get the old gift tanks that were given to the veteran players years ago, like the Toldi light tank but I think that there are more.

I think that players should discuss this issue. :)

What do you think? :)

no and no also give one reason why WG should hand out tanks to freeloaders

I agree! Still waiting for WG to give me a Churchill III. I discovered about invite codes too late after registering.

That's just plain sadistic. Those gift tanks were terrible. Noone should have to endure them.

imo they should get a random mission to win one of them, to spur the new players into doing well

ones that say, play and win 20 battles and be within the top 5 of the team = win a toldi

it would spur them on, and give them something nice, and that's what we need to get new players to go about and learn the game in its entirety

Don't worry be happy... $WG$ will sell them in some sort of bundle soon enough.

There has been marathon-missions in the past for certain tanks, like the VIC and LTP. Those and the T7 CC are the only ones that come to mind as quite good, anyway.

Gift tanks, even if they are kind of crappy, are a nice 'badge' of veterancy anyway, like War Thunder gives you 'titles' for having played for a few years ("The old guard" is a nice way of hiding my total lack of skill in WT).

I wouldn't mind if suboptimal tanks were given away as prices to encourage playing, like the Stug 4 that I barely see. I can guess the tank is bad, but I still want it for the sake of completionism.

If people were given some low level premiums to test I think many more players would buy premium tanks and/or stuff to see what they do in higher tiers.

I mean, what's the best way to hook someone on something? First one's free.

Um the Stug 4 is not a premium gift tank, it's the first reward tank of the personal missions. So you can absolutely have one, just play all 5 types of tanks. The difference between reward and premium is less credit earning potential, but they train crews just same.

I agree with the OP, I think new players should get all gift tanks and many research branches open all the way to tier 10 immediately, and enough money to buy several tier 10 tanks at once, because why should they be in a worse position than old players who earned all this?

Yeah I know. I mean, giving vanity rewards in the form of tanks that aren't dominant is an awesome way to encourage people to play. The StuG IV, if I ever get it, will probably collect dust while I grind my tech trees and play the tanks I enjoy, go guess what would happen if one of those vanity tanks turns out to be one of my favorites.

You are demanding a Toldi -_- .... if you could give away tanks you could have mine for nothing.

I couldn't agree less. Something that was given to players to show their involvement in the game 5 years ago shouldn't be given to newcomers because then there'd be nothing rare or unusual about it.

It'd be like selling tanks that were awarded only to people who helped fund the game during its start-up. It'd completely remove any sort of rarity or cachet when you saw one in batt... uh ... erm ... oh yeah, right. Never mind.

Be patient and they'll probably appear in a special one-off never to be repeated bundle deal that you'll buy and then you'll have something to complain about a year later when they're up for sale again. :great:

You don't even need to play all 5 types, completing 4 sets of missions is enough as long as you complete the last mission in each set with honours.

The StuG IV isn't that bad. Sure, it's not a StuG IIIG but it's got preferential match-making and provides premium crew training in a package that looks better than the regular StuG IMO. :)

I'd gladly pay for a chance to get that Type 97 Te-Ke seeing as I missed it when they were handing it out. :coin:

I obviously agree. Why should people playing for years and having to play the game at Christmas and other dates be the only ones owning such tanks when all you have to do is register and get them all?

I played my Toldi on the day it was given to us, then it's gathered dust.

Most gift tanks just sit in my garage, apart from the Tetrarch, I've played that a few times since. Premium ammo with 121 pen at tier 2... LOL

I say all new players should get a rental Type 59 for 100 battles, in fact all players who joined since it was removed from sale, just to be fair.  But not rerolls.

That would be a cruel early awakening to the debilitating nature of the WOT powercreep.

First of all- No. It might not be anyone's fault that you weren't here, one, two, three or more years ago, but why should WG provide you with a gift just because you're new? Imagine that- day one: create account, play one battle, suddenly you have the (help me if I miss one).....

T1E6, Toldi III, Mk VIC, Te-Ke, Pz II D, T2 LT, Tetrarch, T15, LTP, BT-7 Artillery in your garage. I am not sure if they were all gifts. The highlighted ones were, I am pretty sure.

Now, there have been missions to earn a couple of these tanks- the Mk VIC has been a mission reward twice, I think, so they could offer a chance to earn them in the future, but gift them?

NO!

Anyway, OP, haven't you already got enough tanks that you can't play?
