I don't know if this is a feature or a bug in the ranked battles, but kills give you way more XP than dmg or assist dmg. I realized it tonight after i played a battle and got most combined dmg, 4.8k, and second most overall dmg, 3.7k ,but got in 5th place xp wise, just because i had no kills, meanwhile another guy with 1.5k dmg and 460 assisted got in second place, because he had one kill, lol.

So tomorrow make sure to roll out and killsteal.  You will rank up in no time.

I also suspect they have changed the XP matrix. Independently of that I have seen several streamers comment on this as well. Personally I don't give a shite where the balance lies, but I *seriously* feel it needs to be public.

It's always been a bit unfathomable when you paid attention.  The exact formula has never been made public, what is on the wiki is mostly guesswork and a few snippets from various devs put together (and could well be long out of date).

I have long held the belief that there is exp for simply driving around, it's the only way I have been able to explain some discrepancies.

That fact that where you come in the team by exp determines if you move up or down the rankings has just brought it more into the spotlight.

this one is actually true.

I verified this in a battle with my son, we got the exact same battle stats except distance traveled and time survived and I got 7 more xp for that.

That is true. I did yesterday 286 damage, 1000 blocked and little assist with 4 kills. And second with XP :amazed: Didnt expect that to happen...

Kills give alot more then damage done. If you see the game is going badly and its going to be a defeat then focus on tanks with low HP. Having autoloader tanks helps in this case alot.

If the game is going to be a win then just yolo a tank with batchat, kill it and die. Place in top 12 is 100% safe.

Shirley that's the thing to do to increase the chance of a win anyway.

Ye, damage is hardly worth anything in Ranked.

Did 5k dmg 0 kills, enough for 4;th place....

So to rank up. Killsteal as much as possible.

So basically... play only fast mediums or autoloaders that can kill the remaining one shot enemies easily? And before that, just camp in the back and use heavies as meat shields.

Yep. Don't take damage and make sure to farm damage + as much kills as you can and you're golden.

Yep. The higher you go in ranks, the more you see people play like that. Slow tanks help in lower ranks, but from rank 4 you often cant even get to a spot where you can do your part as a heavy. Key locations are swarmed by mediums and fast heavies and the moment you arrive its already late. Eighter your meds stomped them or the enemy meds stomped your team all that is left is you being overrun by them and die doing maybe two hits worth of damage.

Time survived will add to your xp as you get a small % of xp from actions of other teammates while you are alive. Not convinced on the the distance travelled giving xp though at all.

I suspect you get XP for all sorts of things (time survived, distance driven, height gained) as well as the more obvious things that are often denied (bouncing shots, firing shots, getting spotted, surviving, etc.).

Many players "disapprove" of a lot of those things as they don't contribute to WN8 or MOEs.

taking guns out of the game is often more important to winning than doing lots of damage.

When Sniping on a 3 v 3 melee, hitting the full health heavy will get you more WN8, but killing the 100HP medium will mean you win the 3v3 with 1 or 2 of your melee tanks still alive (and go on to win the game).

Due to the high number of Ranked Battle threads , we want discussions to take place in the main pinned thread here.
