You know this great map, it's been taken out from the RU server rotation 1 year ago. We still have it for some reason. I wonder what the reason is.

Because WG listens to RU players, not to EU players.

Well, it is better than ... erm,

some other even worse map maybe?

Oh, I remember it now - Pilsen.

Stalingrad is better than Pilsen.

Anything is better than Pilsen.

Listening to your gf is better than Pilsen.

Maybe because it contains word Stalin, I know soviet Union went through De-Stalinifaction after his death, not too sure of his status/popularity in Russia today. Could be like having a map/battle called Hitlerdorf in Germany nowadays.

True. Pilsen is worse.

Uhh... Fun facts about Stalingrad?

Like 2,5 million casualties combined.

Civilians were so hungry they killed and ate each other

I can imagine some of the russians who had their parents or grand parents there, might feel somewhat bad about visiting the siege in arcade game.

Fun fact for the OP.

That map arrived to game around 2 years ago.

So nice trolling attempt.

Fun facts about Stalingrad.

Well.. first maybe legend, but it's been said that the icon of Our Lady of Kazan was put on a plane and flown around Stalingrad to bring victory against the Germans.

The second Our Lady that is involved with Stalingrad is a documented fact, known as the Stalingrad Madonna, nowadays on display in the Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche in Berlin.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalingrad_Madonna

And yes, Stalingrad is one of the better maps around.

- Came out in 0.9.4 on 4th of Nov 2014. http://wiki.wargamin...бновление_0.9.4

- Removed from RU server on 19th of Feb 2016 https://worldoftanks...on/map_ranking/

So yea, I made a slight mistake. Wasn't removed 2 years ago, it was removed 13 months ago.

Great map? One of the worst maps in the game (at least for me)...

After Matchmaking changes, I see this map more often right now.

Still not one of those maps I would like to see in this game...

Pacmangrad, while annoying, is atleast more enjoyable for me than Kharkov, Pilsen or Paris. I'd still rather not play either.

Perhaps they could have renamed it. Maybe its current name of Volgograd or even it former name of Tsaritsyn.

Some time ago I had the realization that Stalingrad (the map) is basically just a high tier version of Mittengard.

At least Mittengard is actually fun map for tier I-II battles.

Fun fact, it's the worst designed map in the game they've ever made. Amazing map design features like not being able to spot the enemy until you proxy spot them and there being some piece of craprubble everywhere to block line of sight and give cover.
