Honest question here.

Any thoughts on why so many games are absolute thrashings at the moment?

I've been critical of the MM of late and rightly so when all the OP tanks are piled onto one side but in many cases the the reasons are far less obvious. I dont use XVM anymore either so I get little idea if it's good against bad etc either.

just a little frustrating to be honest when you either ant keep up the advance or just absolutely over run within 3 minutes

Thoughts?

Games are far closer now than they were before the match making changes.

Haven't noticed an increase in steamrolls even when one side is heavily stacked against the other.

The very nature of random means steamrolls and bad streaks will happen.

Matchmaking sucks. It's worse than ever before.

Either you will crush your enemy in less than 5 min., or you will be crushed...

That's what we get everyday...

Yes agreed that they will happen but it seems to be all the time for me. One way or the other far more than it used to be I think. feels that way anyway

Snowball effect, 3-5 diying fast with low damage done is enough to start it

Could just be a case of confirmation bias. When on a bad streak where teams are being stemrolled and you're not particularly doing well, human nature dictates you must come up with a solution to the problem rather than thinking "s*** happens"

As I said, what I have noticed is that battles are more finely poised to the point where absolutely every action each player makes has a more profound effect on the outcome of the battle.

At least with the 3/5/7 and double/single tier games you can have more of an effect at arresting the snowball before it gets out of hand.

A further observation is that I always seem to have a good day or a bad one. Never down the middle anymore either.

40%Wr one day
70% WR the other

bizarre

Same here strange can't quite figure it out, did try a whiles back but my head started to hurt so gave up:)

Usually find if there a lot of meds on the Reds that can spell doom especially if ours don't push...

WoT players are mostly really horrible, and the new template 3/5/7 while looks fairer than the older, aggravates the problem even more.

In this match our O-Ho went to the opposite side by where enemy WZ-111 came raping our VII/VI tanks. I don't know what O-Ho did, but we lost.

If top tier tanks of both teams do not meet each other in the map, all mid/bottom tier players (that plays like bots) die in record time.

First time I've seen someone who agrees that less top-tier (that i.e. dictate the battle) tanks means more variable results - whether it comes down to positioning, if you get 3xFCM 50t vs 3xDefenders or skill for those lucky three players that are on top - or even a combination of those.

I guess I'll save this one for later:

Spoiler

I suspect it's the new mm. Games with the 3:5:7 can turn into a complete kerb stomp if one team has a couple of good top-tier players, or strong or situationally good top tier tanks. (Tier 8 games on Himmelsdorf where one team has two O-Ho's and the other team has two Caernarvons tend to be pretty one sided)  On the other hand, the matches with only one tier difference, or all the same tier, which are more common now than they used to be should be close. SO, if you go with a small sample, chances are one player sees only kerbstomps for a few days while another sees only close matches.

15 players, one life, no respawns.

If you lose one tank early, especially a key tank such as one of your 3 top tiers, then you are at a disadvantage, that disadvantage can easily snowball and once the snowball starts it takes exceptionally skilled players to stop it.

It is because you are an average player who plays about 11 games a day on average. You don't have much influence on your results and, over a small number of games, the influence of your team is significant.

The snowballs i have survive longer...doesn't mean they do a lot of damage though.

You may have touched on something here.
With high tier game balance being pretty bad the moment and Tier 8 being.......... well let's say tough, I suppose a few lawnmower moments are to be expected when some of the very strong tanks in the game come up against Lower tier stuff. I'm playing a lot at tier 8 at the moment too so perhaps its amplified at this level.

As long as I have been on these forums, I have heard about the old days where balance was much better and battles weren't onesided.

Conclusion is that it must have been around 2013 everything went awry.

It must have been wonderful to fight a MAUS in a tier 5 tanks.

It was a mess back then but I only remember low tiers at that time.

t40 was OP, KV1 was OP, Hetzer was OP, Hellcat was OP to name a few. But I've only really noticed a difference in the frequency of these results with the new MM
