I've just had the most idiotic game in a long time. I Know t30 roof is only like 40mm so can be overmatched. Question is HOW DO YOU OVERMATCH IT WHEN YOUR A T95 SHOOTING A T30 FROM BELLOW??? Either im stupid or that angle is logicly and physicly imposible to achieve. Would Apreciate an explanation for the not 1 but 2 shootsa in a row that hit the top of my turret

so I watched the replay, and can tell you, that in your own words, your stupid :P

when you got behind that wall, your tank is actually pointing downwards slightly, so the whole of your roof is shown and would be an easy pen for the T95

there's nothing strange about it, because of the angle of your hull, your turret roof was in plan sight for them, and that's why you got shot twice there

i know that spot shoows the from on the roof, did you actually watch the replay and looked at where the holes were? if it was at the very front of the roof sure but in the [edited]middle? and no, a t95 wouldnt be able to easyly see the whole roof thats a simple case of los

you should perhaps look at Tanks.gg, the places that were pen by the T95 are part of your weaker hull roof

the first shot even went into the cupola near the rear of your turret, the second, just above the gun mantlet, which is still part of the weaker roof

the center part right above the mantlet, is part of the weaker hull roof as well, on the flat, hard to hit, but at the angle your tank was, very easy to hit

the angle your T30 was at allowed them to hit your roof, had you been sat in the center of the road, rather than right up close to the wall opening, you wouldn't have been pen so easily

and the 2nd shot was allowed by you, as your turret was still visible in the hole of the wall, you should have reversed slightly, and you wouldn't have taken this shot at all

The fact that he shot you twice in the roof would imply that he could see it regardless of how much you think he hasn't got line of sight.

The normalization in that situation is 5°x1,4x155/40 = 27,125 °.

That means that the maximum theoretical angle of impact will always be less than 62,875 °. At that angle, 40 mm of armor will stop absolutely nothing at tier 9.

So basicly the game mechanic is working as it should.

you got a point - the first shot is very strange, and the mark on the roof is strange too, it should be much more stretched out.

this looks like a typical RNG strike. I noticed too that some shots that shouldn't hit or pen sometimes pen regardless.

the only way to truly know, is to get the replay off the T95, unless there's a mod out there that lets you watch other tanks in a replay?

Below is the view when the camera is put on the ground close to the wall in front of you and looking through the gap from which you were shot. If I can see your roof from there, so can that tank, in fact he was maybe 20m further back. Pretty clear to me you're not appreciating the extent of the incline your tank was on:

Poor shell ballistics (the shell arcs mostly are just utter nonsense), poor penetration mechanics, shells represented by pixels, and client/server desync. Take your pick, but any of these in combination with another can get you these seemingly nonsensical, physics defying penetrations.

I haven't actually looked at the replay, but I can imagine what you mean as I've seen it all too many times. Higher caliber guns with lower velocity AP rounds are particularly notorious for this. My favorites are those penetration on the turret roofs by those who're close range and in a much lower position.

I guess you guys are right i underestimated how much of the roof is visible frontaly, however i still think the hole placement is complete nonsence especialy on the first shoot. Really starting to believe that shoot trajectories and hole marks are complete and utter [edited]and dont represent whats happening in the game at all. anyways thanks for the help with explaining this guys

Oh, well as to that it is a known issue that the decals are very shite and have issues with placement etc. They've said themselves it's been on the fix list for ages but they just haven't gotten around to it. They blamed development of HD Rock for the delay. Apparently it's delayed a lot of stuff.

edit: Also, regardless of whether the shot was possible or not, it's still a low % hit. You were very unlucky to take two of those in the same brawl. Such RNG may well not assault you again for quite some time. Or, you know, in the next game you play.

In the face of all other evidence then the only other explanation is possible. Harvey Price killed you tank.

PS that means you were crap.

The whole roof is a gigantic weakspot everyone and his dog knows about and since it's sloping towards the shooter every hit above the mantlet can penetrate the triangle just above the mantlet or overmatch ( above 121mm ). I don't remember the exact armor values on the cupola but that is generally penetrated by most same tier and higher tier tanks it faces. Even standing on a reverse slope won't save you from being penned because when you are fighting enemies really close it's not that difficult for them to hit the triangle when a T29/30/34 looks down at you since the mantlet doesn't cover that spot. It's the perfect "hulldown" monster with a glaring weakspot considering the IS-3 had it's roof only ( and very small ) weakspot buffed a couple times because it could be penetrated / overmatched when hulldown...

Good one. But next time be sure to not look like one yourself, making very similar mistakes.
