e100 he ammo shoot 1012 dmg in maus

Alright, I'll bite, let's see this.

 

edit: Hah, top quality. It looks like the HE shell impacts low on the turret side which is rotated slightly exposing the 50mm top deck. Combine that with a high roll and hilarity ensues.

You hit his turret ring , probably splashing downwards into the tank from there  (dunno what the engine bay top cover armor is but its not 200mm). Up to that point had to be some of the worst decision making ive seen @ teir 10 . Driving mid road........   then pulling out side ways to shoot the arty. Not a viable tactic when everyone else is teir x , not even v teir 8.  Turned replay off after the hit

It was certainly a very unusual level of aggression for Ranked, I don't think you'd see that play in Ranks 2-4 because of the opportunity cost trade off but Rank 5 is just grindmode and so individual results ceases to matter as much again. He definitely over-extended on the arty and should have switched to keeping his gun alive when he went low HP as the corner defense was already broken. And in fairness that is in considerable part to his aggressive play. Did it get his own tank dead? Sure, but his team saw what was happening (good players in general at Rank 5) and immediately pursued the advantage.

Looking at the replay you hit a 1 in a milion shot into the turretring which is only 55 mm thick (you need to face the Maus at a very specific angle to be even able to see it)

 

Funny thing is, your shell was probably several times bigger than the small space between the hull and the turret.

I'm not convinced he made that shot though, I think it was close-to-max roll on a non-penetration punching down through the 55mm top deck. I will accept he had the exact angle he needed to hit the turret ring directly, but the fact that his client reported it as an external detonation is leading me to think he caught the very bottom of the turret itself, giving him the minimum possible distance between his detonation and a weak armour area. I'd definitely welcome some further enlightenment on this thinking though.

just splash doesnt cut it,  since whe nnto penning dmg is halfed. So even on a max roll it would nto be able to do 1K dmg.

Yeah, I took a look into the specific math *after* I posted, like a genius. You guys are right, definitely a penetration of the turret ring.

Easy fix: remove E-100's HEAT shells and drastically increase HE ammo cost. :harp:
