My nephew asked me to show him my favourite tank skins - I thought I'd share some of them with you as well.

The guys over on the skin forum http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/forum/91-tank-skins/ are doing some amazing things that add so much to the game. I really appreciate the time and effort they put in and I want to give them a shout out:

Apologies if I've captioned am image with the wrong modder, I tried to be careful but they share and help each other a lot and sometimes it gets confusing who's done what :)

Don't be scared to try some on your game - it's dead easy. This is a tiny selection of what's over there.

One question about skins, do you have to have the updated version of the skin after each patch, because that would be super annoying?

Btw do you just put them in the RES_MODS?

Nice skins, especially the skorp G one.

WG could learn a lot from this.

Usually not, but every so often WG tinkers with a module name or something unrelated to the patch and breaks a few mods.

Since 0.9.16 I just drag all the relevent files into the (current) 0.9.19.0.2 folder and it all works fine.

Everytime I update things like Aslains though I have to do the process all over - Milkym4ns skins are included in that anyway.

Yes! I love them all! Especially the ones for Sheridan which makes him way less bulky and more historically acurate.

Firstly, you only have to update your skins or remodels if something changes with the patch. An example for this would be when a tank gets HD Modelled, which will often screw over a HD Remodel and due to changes in the scripts can cause crashes. There are a few other things that can cause problems, but no, most of the time you should be able to just copy existing skins and such over to the new res_mods folder, or mods, which gets me onto the second point (that said, you should always be a bit wary. It is usually best to wait for the author of the mod you're going to move to make a statement in their respective thread, saying whether or not the mod works fine with the next patch or not).

Mods can go into two places; "mods" folder if they're wotmod formats, and res_mods of course if not. Wotmods are more recent, but are effectively easier for you to probably install and remove. I don't use them myself though, as I'm content with just using res_mods.

Also Nick, I think you made a few errors. For example, you credit Kubana for the Borsig thing though IIRC, the remodel itself is by Goodman12. That said, I'm not 100% On this sort of stuff even if I do my own remodels and whatnot. Just wanted to point that out though. The Skorp G Remodel is by Falkonett, while the skin is by Krollnikow, so I think both should be credited. :P
