Beaten only by a pot of Petunias and a Sperm Whale, or so I heard.

Who cares about the tank. It's the crew that counts.

And I thought that after 38k battles one would have either learned to look up statistics of vehicles before purchasing them or just generally know how a Tiger performs with the L/56. I guess that makes both of us fvcking idiots.

Historical armour gets destroyed in WoT, because penetration values are (almost) entirely made up.

I mean, its even in Tier VI, a tier lower than the tech tree variant. 100mm of EA (since its flat armour) isn't great at Tier VI either, but it should be enough to block some low penetration Tier VI guns and most Tier V guns.

Also, the historical 88 is known for its atrocious penetration in WoT. Thats the tradeoff for a relatively large boom-stick in Tier VI.

Problem is the Tiger meets tanks it didn't meet irl and combat distances irl were much greater which means it's armor was more useful.
And don't forget the Tiger I is so hyped every tomato grinds towards it or buys it and gets an unpleasant surprise.

It has 100mm flat armor, zero angles on it. I mean what did you expect? It's no steel wall on tier 7 either. And most tier 5 guns have 110mm pen at least.

Tiger is not a brawler meant to soak up damage. It's a support HT sadly. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well, it really struggles against VK 100.'s but otherwise, it can dish out before it gets two shotted.

Well, yea. It doesn't take shots well. But neither do the Tiger I and HT No.VI. So it was kinda expected unless the same guy that came up with the Nameless was  in charge for the armour profile and cranked it up to 200mm at the front.

But it was pretty straight forward what this tank would be. Just a Tiger at tier 6 with the same 88 gun that most other tier 6 German tanks have.

I like the base view range with BIA, I was getting unexpected spotting damage.

I didn't put EGLD on it but I may change that because aim time is definetly meh when trying to lead a target or anything like that.

Otherwise I like it, its a decent tank not OP at tier 6 but not completely underpowered either.... 145 pen is more then enough if you know where to aim and it carries enough ammo with enough alpha that you can easily take a crap ton of Prem rounds incase tier 8 but never fire any if you are in a tier 6 or 7 game.

But the icing on the cake with this one is the B2 you get in the top package.

Its rarely on sale and when it is it usually in or around the same price as the Tiger 131 package or Higher so it isn't a bad deal.

1) Yes, the Tiger's armour was good. Guess what type of vehicle wasn't shooting back at it...another Tiger!!! If in the game the Tiger was fighting its historical opponents, it would be a sea of stock T-34s and Shermans and it would be a bloodbath. It would also run out of petrol all the damned time, but that's another story.

2) 145 pen at tier 6 is actually fairly respectable. Not amazing, but alright.

3) Historically, honestly, the Tiger was overrated if you ask me.

Even the Panther was better than the Tiger, technically it was also better than the Tiger II if you set aside any mechanical issues it had because of the 7,5cm KwK 42.

Alright? This is the gun with lowest penetration classified as tier 7. Acceptable for the medium tanks that use it, but sniper heavies? Never! It can't frontally penetrate O-I and Churchill VII that have 150mm armor.

Put it carries a metric crapton of ammo so you can easily carry enough gold round to pen targets frontally you need too and if you never run into them you can still go through the game with standard rounds and never run out.

As I've said before the module tier is irrelevant meaningless twaddle. Does the short 88 have the lowest pen of any tier 6 heavy? Yes. Can you still do well firing AP with it? Yes. 145 isn't great but it is enough to not be terrible. The far bigger issue with using the gun to snipe with is the dodgy accurracy and shell velocity. Solution? Don't snipe. Get stuck in. 100mm of armour is not great, but it is enough to bounce some shots and you have a good slab of health. So, with the correct play, brawling is a viable option.

I used to play the VK3601H when it had 132 pen with the short 88 and I can count on 1 hand the number of times I fired gold rounds and I did fine in it.

Edit: In reference to the two tanks you mention, Churchill VII has weak spots to take advantage of and the OI is a stupid tank that gives anything it meets problems. That is no reflection on the short 88 as a gun and more a reflection on the design concept behind the OI. Having said that, if there was ever a time to use that APCR, the OI is it.
