Just trying to help the community expose their will.

WG says this of the change from the v9.18 to 9.19:

One-tier battles are not bad, but they are not as interesting from gameplay perspective as 2- or 3-tier battles. I'm sure there are players who don't mind facing vehicles of the same tier all day long, but there are also many players who simply enjoy being on top (against lower tier tanks), and that comes at a price of playing against higher tier tanks from time to time.

So, do you prefer the boredom of one-tier battles or the interesting gameplay from 2- or 3- tier battles? Or just as was before 9.18?

Quality thread. :sceptic:

Would you at least mind explaining how the poll is related to the content of your post?

edit: Makes more sense now...

Both 9.18 & 9.19 used the 3/5/7 format, just with different parameters.

9.19 is a regression in my opinion.

Same tier is the most fun but +-1 workes great aswell. Sadly we will never have them cuz they can not milk the playerbase as efficently as they are doing right now with the ++++++++-2

The idea is to prove the user in the quote wrong; he's WoT PC Product Coordinator apparently.

He's not totally wrong, actually. There are, in fact, reasons why the matchmaker is made like it is - giving every player regardless of skill a chance to roflstomp the enemy team. I actually think the first part of his post is more interesting:

We are monitoring how matchmaker works very closely and actually it is nothing like what you described. I just checked in what battle levels Tier 8 tanks end up and all across the board it's 30ish % for each: T8 (so on top), T9 (so mid-tier) and T10 (so as bottom tier).

(...)

Can someone explain how the heck a T8 can have ~30% battles each of top/mid/bottom in a 3-5-7 environment? Doesn't make much sense to me, at least, nor does it fit with my observations.

Regardless, 3-5-7 is something that arguably fixes a problem - but amplifies it and brings other issues too.

Not trying to prove him wrong, but yes, it was written in a way that would appear so. I edited it so that it's more clear why is the quote there.

I cant prove nobody wrong because I don't know who's right and, I don't play enough anymore to have an opinion of my own, but I would love the game to get better!

The solution for the MM most probably isn't opting for one of this options but, it could give an idea of witch direction to follow. At least those were/are my hopes.

You do realise that a good part of the player database doesnt even visit the portal to read the changes. A little explanation to each option would have been better like i did on my poll. So unaware people can know what they vote.If they somehow end up reading this.

If it was possible to roll back to 9.17 I'd be all for it, and not just because of MM.

9.18. MM changes were pretty much the best since beta days. I am very happy with the current system, although there are issues with tier 8 tanks.

MM should allow for same tier only.

I'm happy with the current principles of 1 tier, 10/5 and 3/5/7 apart from.ONE thing.

Compensation for being bottom tier ALL the time is mostly to be in same tier battles. To be top in a 5/10, or 3/5/7 in particular (especially in tier VIII) is close to impossible.

I know that I do NOT want 1 tier battles to be the norm/common. I think we've all seen plenty of those recently and I know that I don't want them. I'm sure that you guys will have a more informed opinion of 1 tiers now.

My key issue with mm was being the top tier for 1 in 7 before the new system on a 3 week average when I started counting.  Now being the top tier is even rarer.  I haven't yet counted the average since the patch but I expect it to be double figures.

WG stated that the game would recognise that you haven't been top tier for a while.  If it does do that, it gives it a stiff ignoring.
